OK that's cool man, i bought this engine last year D16B5. the only application that they were produced for were 99-00 civics. The catch is, it's contructed to run on natural gas. It's a California Engine that was only made for those 2 years.

Now if you look at this motor, the engine looks exactly like it's gasoline-powered counterpart: the D16Y8.

I'm wondering if the only the fuel system is the only difference which would allow me to just swap out intake manifolds and be ''good to go"

i'm thinking that the block and the head and internals are the same.

I need my theory to be solidified.

Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think its quite as simple as just replacing the intake manifold.
It seems that the rods and pistons are different and that it has higher compression just from a couple things ive been able to find. (theres not much out there on it, so im not sure if its legit or not)
I have a feeling the ecu is different as well since its meant to use natural gas and probably shoots in a different amount of fuel into the engine.

The best way to find out for sure tho is probably to try finding the service manuals on both the gx and ex civics and compare.
Sorry i cant be of much help, ive never heard much on the civic gx
Im pretty bored right now tho, so ill see if i can find anything that might help

alright, well, im not sure if this was for all gx's but you could at least order bi-fuel versions to where at a flip of a switch you could either use natural gas or regular gas
Now, how this works, i have no freaken clue, but i just thought id add that in here cuz that motor u have might be able to run off regular gas too.

It's probably like Ford's alternate fuel vehicles "FFV" (Flexible Fuel Vehicle) to where you can run BOTH. Gas or Natural. I'm prolly wrong, though.

I appriciate your time guys. Maybe i might have to call up Honda Japan or USA for an answer who knows.

D16-When i pulled the report and saw "Civic GX," I was shocked.

I just need to make use of this engine it has only 14k (carfaxed) on it. I would hate for it to remain in my garage unused.

hmmm using LP gas to run a civic, that would be nice. hmmm too bad it does not have all of the needed components on there.

I purchased the motor, and I am going to do some research on it. It will run gasoline for a while and then I'm going to try to convert my car for ethanol.
