So when did you get into cars? From birth? Did your friends do it? Tell how and when you got into cars.

I got into cars basically when I was born, my dad always had a job with cars, and I was into cars and boats living in Florida. I went to my first race when I was too young to remember, not sure if I could even walk :lmfao: I started racing karts when I was young, and really got into it with Panoz and everything up the road :goodjob:

I really started loving them when I saw about 10, my dad always worked on cars growing up. I used to always think the ricemobiles were so awesome. And my dad would tell me about his old cars and it just stuck with me ever since.

i've pretty much gotten into cars all my life. Since the first day my mother strapped my car seat into the car, to the time my dad let me steer the van while he worked the gears, to the first time i was able to shotgun and climb into the front passenger seat, to the time i first borrowed my dads caddy, and on to this very moment.....i get into cars daily. I used to open the door fast and basically jump into the seat....now with age, and a smaller car...i pretty much just fall into the seat....still either way....i get in

I'll be the first to admit it because I know there are others just like me...

The Fast & The Furious

Despite how awful the movie was, despite how ricey it was, despite how it became everything I hate about "tuners", I do have to credit it with getting me into the car scene.

well i generally first got into cars by opening the door, then i sat down in the seat and put on my seat belt.

EDIT: thats how i still get into them also, i tried the whole jumping over the door thing but at 300lbs that doesnt work too well. gravity likes me too much

My parents/family. My dad has a 911 SC and 260Z. Before he had a 65 Mustang and GTO. My mom has a 944. My grandfather has/had several Road Runners. It was inevitable that I would be getting into cars.

My dad is a lifetime member of the SCCA. He has been autocrossing and road racing since the 70's. Some of my first memories are riding on the hood of my dad's race-prepped RX-4, and also going to countless autocrosses.

I started autocrossing at age 13 in a go-kart and have been autocrossing ever since.

None of my family is into cars. im kind of an odd ball. iv loved them as long as i can remember. in my younger days my life consisted of playing nothing but need for speed on the computer (yes the very first one) and collecting 1/18 scale cars and racing them on my moms treadmill.

I've loved cars since I was young.

I would point out Lamborghini's and Ferrari's when I was like 6, 7, 8...

When I was like 14, I wanted a Honda Prelude. One of the early 90's ones.

After that, I wanted a Jeep Wrangler.

Then I wanted a Toyota Celica...1994-1999, or the 2000+

When I was like 15, 16ish....I remember reading Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car, and all the other import magazines.....drooling over a red HKS S15 Silvia....

My first car was a 2000 Toyota Celica, which I ended up wrapping around a tree when I was 16 years old...lost my license for 6 months I think. lol

Around that time, my brother introduced me to Sae from Finish Line Motorsports, back when his shop was off Canton Road, near Barrett Parkway in Marietta...

Sae ended up selling me an '86 Corolla GT-S Hatchback (AE86/Hachi Roku/whatever).....for $900.. I got rear-ended by an Infinity G35 at a red-light the first weekend I had it cause I stalled at a red light. lol

I ended up getting a $950 check from insurance company. lol, I don't remember what I did with that money, I probably wasted it...

But I ended up selling it for $2,500....hahaha...thanks Club4AG.com ^.^

Next car was an '88 RX-7 Turbo II...modded. This was the car that I made my name with among most car enthusiasts at the time in Georgia. My brother was driving an S14 with an SR20, that he bought from John Trent. As far as I know, it was still one of the FIRST 240's with an SR20 in it.

It got wrecked by Mike Mongi who was working for Sae @ Finish Line....and they ended up swapping the motor into a black S13 hatchback...

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/11/web/563000-563999/563595_40_full.jpg?393218-245

Look familiar to anyone? ^.^

I dunno why I sold it...I shouldn't have. I was only like 17 years old working part-time/full-time at Office Max in Roswell...

Basically, I sold it...made a LITTLE profit....and then eventually later I got my first FD...

..... >_>

......... <_<

Soooooooooooooooo!!! 2 years after having that wonderful experience with my first FD....I'm now on my 3rd, which will be on its way from California to Lethal Injection, where my brother, David works.

405rwhp FTW....I wonder if I can get more! ^.^

The motor needs to be rebuilt, but Pettit Racing, who street-ported and installed 3mm seals in it, says they'll do the labor for free. Har har harrrrr!!!

I'm HOPING the car will be up and running with over 1,000 miles to break in the motor by the time I come home on Leave for Christmas/New Years!!

Get ready.

:]

((lol....I went from "How did I get into cars" to "Here's my car history!" Oops!! ^.^))

I went to see the F&F the FIRST one and I swear I went to see it as a joke. So I feel better now that I thought it was stupid and ricey at such a young age :lmfao:

Le Mans is my favorite by far. I fell in love with that movie when I was young, also Grand Prix my grand dad bought it for me one year. Ronin had a great chase scene. :goodjob:

I've always loved cars and one of the first things that made me interested in cars would have to be diecast collection I had when I was a kid. Brand names like Hot Wheels and Matchbox (1:64) and the 1:18 scale replicas were my absolute favorite to collect. The next thing is Road & Track, Car and Driver, Super Street, Import Tuner, Lowrider, Hot VWs and other car magazines that I enjoyed and still enjoy reading to this very day. Also, the forums that cater to imports and JDM inspired cars further pushed my love for cars into overdrive. But one memory for me that got me into cars would be my very first ride in a 1979 Datsun 280ZX that my friend owned. To me (in 1993: 8 years old) that car was fast and I enjoyed every minute I got to ride in it. Good times back in the day and cars are the reason I am the man I am today.

I basically grew up at the drag strip. my dad had a 24' rail with a blown 572 in it that he ran in the super pro class. at 8 years old he bought me a junior dragster(which if you have kids you should look at these things. they're awsome). so Ive been basically racing with my dad my whole life and I wouldn't want to have it any other way. :goodjob:

It strated pretty much as soon as I could talk, I would sit next to my window and watch cars go by and call them as they were, Ford, Chevy, Dodge... Then by the time I was 5 I was in the engine bay pulling plugs and wires for my dad lol, by the time I was 8 I was taught to drive a 5 speed and do an oil change, my dad is the reason I'm so into cars. When I moved up here from south Florida I got into imports and bought my first Honda when i was 15, 91 Integra 4dr. This was before the "Fast and the Ferious" came out lol After that i was hooked, sold that for a 96 Honda Civic, did my first engine swap when i was 16, I put an ls engine in it... Went through a bunch of cars untill I got my first 240sx, when that happened I ment Sae Kang, I ended up stayin at that shop as much as I could to learn about drifting... He taught me everything I know today and his death was hard to deal with, but everytime I'm out there in my SC I know he is laughing telling me what I'm doin wrong LOL But yeah, now 23yo and 43 cars later this is where I am today...

Anything to avoid doing bad things at a young age, lol. My dad had a Z28 and a Grand Prix. My Uncle in North Carolina used to build/run in Prostock. Seeing 1200hp cars every summer leaves a pretty good taste in your mouth. Another Uncle had 3 alcohol go karts that my cousins and I would run. My older cousins build/run motorcycles. Ummmm.....that's about it. Cars/motorsports are my outlet when things in life start to get bad.

Now since I have some extra time and money, I am going to start going to performance driving schools to gain a better appreciation of cars. Between that and autocross, I think I will be fine!

I guess my dad kind of got me into them. When when I was 10 or 11 we already started talking about what we were going to get me for my first car. It basically came down to either a kit car or a classic. When I was around 15 we ended up finding my old 68 Mustang in the classified section of the Augusta Chronicle. I'd say I really got into it be working with my Dad out in the garage to get it running all nice and smooth.

I open the door and sit in them... that's how I get into cars.

:P

But seriously... I got my first del Sol when I was 16 in HS and decided I wanted to do stuff to it, so I got the APC tail lights and LED crap on the inside, then wanted it to go fast and spent like $250 for Street Stuff to install an AEM intake. I figured out shortly thereafter that it was much cheaper to work on them myself, and the learning process began!

My dad has been a mechanic/working on cars since he was a teen or younger. I have always liked cars more than everyone else as far back as I can remember. When I was in 6th grade my dad bought a 79 camaro shell with intentions of building a drag car. While we were building the 468 big block for the camaro we came up on a '67 chevelle. The chevelle was in bad shape but we dropped a 350 sbc and a 700R4 tranny in it and my dad started drag racing it. It ran 13.1 in the 1/4 with just a shift kit and 4.56 gear. That got me hooked. I didn't really start working on cars until my dad started needing help swapping motors for a local car dealer. After that, my grandfather and I worked out a deal where I got his '69 datsun roadster 2000, I was 15 years old now. It had been sitting 17 years so it was REALLY rough. I got her running, but didn't make much progress with the rust repair. I started getting close to 16 years old and needed a better car. My dad got a call to haul away an '84 BMW 318i off from a hotel. The car had been abandoned for a while, but I always liked E30s. I paid my dad $180 for the car, exactly what he would've got at the scrapyard. I changed the headgasket to find out it also needed a clutch. I randomly stumbled upon an '84 toyota 4x4, the guy wanted $600 but I was BROKE! I showed my brother the truck and he loaned me the money. Cleaned the truck up REALLY good and sold it for $1400. Paid my brother back and had $800. After "a lot" of money in that car, it blew the headgasket again. Not wanting to give up on my BMW, I found another 318i with a brand new head and a good bottom end, just taken apart. $250 later I had 2 BMWs! I don't remember how but I got about $600 and bought bilstein shocks/struts and intrax super sport lowering springs for the 318i. About this time my buddy's friend wrecked his '91 turbo integra... he wanted $600! I returned all of my suspension and bought the integra! The integra wasn't all that, smoking motor, ebay turbo kit, bent 17" rims... omg, not drive-able at all, so I drove my dad's '78 luv truck. I cleaned the teg up real good and sold it to a kid in stockbridge for $1400. My dad this whole time had an '88 thunderbird turbocoupe for sale... I had wanted one since I was about 4 years old, so I bought it! Bah, got bored with it but still drove it. With the extra money, I found a '97 civic with a bad motor... $600, borrowed $50 from my dad. I tried to sell my t-bird to fund a motor for the civic, no luck... civic goes on IA. lol. Lilolsteve offers me a trade for a '94 civic VX with a GSR swap. Awesome! My good friend had just gotten a swapped civic as well. Anyways, I now have a swapped civic that I more or less paid $650 for and an '88 turbocoupe... ok, what to do? Sell the civic for $3300, make $2650 profit! I then bought a 95 mustang GT convertible 5 speed and the tbird finally sold. Ok, so the $1000 from the tbird goes into insurance and mods for the GT. Again, I somehow have enough money to buy a '78 camaro for $800... but you guessed it, I got bored with the GT, traded for a '97 GST. Put a clutch in it, coilovers, and rocked it hard. Yep, bored again, traded for a '90 GSX with mods... LOL, bigger turbo, FMIC, etc... bored now... and I have my 3g now. I still have my 3g, camaro, and datsun.

So that's my story. LOL

i really wasnt into cars when i was very very young, and i only started to kart race because a guy i was bestfriends with did it. my kart setup wasnt that good and we didnt have a ton of money back then, my motor needed to be over hauled very bad and my tires had about 5 races on them. i was pulling away from the guys with expensive setups and brand new tires with perfect motors and after that i reckon it really just started after my noticable laptimes at roabling. my dad has a 300zxtt and it was always fun riding with him in that, he bought a few more toys, some trackable some not. we worked on them together in his spare time. when i was 15 i started to buy and sell vehicles and i started with a 1999 ford ranger with 47xxx miles on it, my dad bought brand new in 99. i bought it from him for 3800 and sold it for 5000, i added 500 to it and bought a gold 95 s14 from atif on here, then started flipping cars from there. ive been pretty much on my own finacially and its good earning my own stuff.

my story may not be as exciting as some of yalls but itll work :)

I would always watch the camp car/IRL and formula 1 races too. Racing has always been in my blood. i just wish i had the funding to actually do it myself. i love watching it and being there. thats what really got me into cars in general. as far as imports and what not, i was always into european cars but japanese, i got into really after a buddy of mine who used to be on here started modding out his 89 lude and i just wanted to get a teg cuz i loved the way that they looked.

I autocrossed in Memphis (Mid-South Region). I am too poor to autocross currently, but if I get a job, I will try to make it out to some ATL region ones.

I started autocrossing cars in my old Civic when it was stock. H-stock and my dad in the passenger seat LOL.
