The speed3 is lighter and have less parts to worry about breaking. The speed6 on the other hand has far better traction and you won't have to worry about wheel hop anytime soon. You just have like 300 more lbs to lug around. You can do about the same thing to both so really, it's all on what you prefer. I'd probably go for the regular mazda3 and boost it only to put down even more power than the speed3 with less boost.

Speed3, it's o more room, is faster t 60, and is cheaper.

Speed6 gives yu a little better handling, and everything else is the same sans the list above.

I'd prefer a Speed3 wince it'd be a little cheaper.

Most dealer's aren't giving any rebates or buying incentives on the MS3's because they're doing so well. They know that MS3 is hot so talking them down in price is nearly impossible. The MS6, however, isn't selling for crap. With the new 6's out on the lot, you should be able to do some heavy negotiating on a MS6. Take the fact that it's not a good seller then add the fact that it's being replaced by a revised version, and you've got some serious haggling material. Good luck. :goodjob:

troof... Ms6's woudl be your best bet if your trying to keep it to about 17k..

Heres a LINK (http://www.cars.com/go/search/search_results.jsp?ct=14&tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&cid=&dlid=&dgid=&amid=&cname=&mdnm=MazdaSpeed6&mknm=Mazda&rd=100&ddrd=&zc=30058&makeid=30&modelid=7751&pageNumber=&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE%20descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_30_|D-_7751_|N-N|R-100|I-1,7|P-PRICE%20descending|Q-descending|Z-30058&aff=national) to some used MS6's a few for 20k, and a handful for 17-18k.. check em out.

hmm, I think I would have to go for the awd. They can also look really nice if done right.

MS3's are more reliable. It's a well known fact that the turbo seals are hit or miss on the 6's

MS6 FTW very quik and with just a few bolt ons they really open up... especially since cobb just dropped the access port for it

ms3 in a heartbeat, and yes i am biased bc i currently drive one. Don't get me wrong the ms6 with awd are very nice and yea like someone else posted they really open up in power with basic bolt ons.... but so does the ms3. Cobb will also be releasing a v103 map for the ms3's very very soon that is already looking to be very promising (its in beta testing phase). I picked my 07 ms3 gt up this past summer for $19k used with 20k miles. Drives, looks, and feels like a brand new car. Just search around and do your homework before buying one. There have been a few recalls since the development of this car such as rear motor mount, radio, fuel pump, and turbo seals. But yea its a great car, fun to drive, and gets good gas mileage, bc us georgians seem to be having a problem with that these days. oh just don't buy from mall of ga mazda, they tried ripping me extremely bad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd get the 3 seeing as the 6 isn't available as a hatch.

hmm, I think I would have to go for the awd. It's not really AWD though. It's FWD until it detects wheelspin. It's only then that it directs power to the rear wheels to maintain traction.

i really like srt4s as well.. any help? The new turbocharged Cobalt SS is rated around 280HP and handles amazingly. It's by far one of the best bang-for-buck values out right now. The Neon SRT-4 doesn't handle that well but does a very good job of putting down the power. No comment on the Calibur SRT-4 since it's so f*cking huge. The Cobalt would definitely be worth looking at.

09-29-2008, 02:33 PM
yeah the new cobalt is a force to be reckoned with, and thanks Ran for correcting me on the "awd" thing i meant to put that in quotes. Its just my opinion but I really like the look of the 3 better but to each his own, then again what it might lack in appearance the power would make up for it. You said bang for the buck, what is it selling for, just curious?

Ran

thanks Ran for correcting me on the "awd" thing i meant to put that in quotes. No problem. I was pretty sure you knew what you were talking about, I was just clarifying for others in the thread who might not have known. :goodjob:

You said bang for the buck, what is it selling for, just curious? The new Cobalt SS starts in low 20's. Not sure how dealers are negotiating on them but, if they're as hot as the MS3 and the dealers know it, then I'd expect them to be pretty firm on price.

I would go for the 6. Awd turbo is alot of fun and with the new model being introduced you can get them for a much better deal

I would get the MS3 cause it looks better than the cobalt and chevy reliability? Even Dodge couldn't stand looking at the Neon so they killed it. jk Also the MS6 is nice but I hate the rear end of the car with the fake tips on the back and that little spoiler on the rear it looks outta place on her.
