Please turn your car off until the line moves. It will save you gas and money as well as reduce the pollutants your car puts out. :goodjob:

so you're saying turn it off and on every time the line moves like 20 times before you get gas?

sorry but im pretty sure thats gonna make it take a bit longer and waste gas on startup.

true. I think its every startup used 2 min of idling gas.

Starting a vehicle uses more gas than idling I believe... I could be wrong though.

If you have the car turned off for any longer than 10-15 seconds and you are actually saving gas. Most of those lines don't move but about once every few minutes.

^^

Good job on the facts, but i still would not go through all the trouble to save some 20 cents or so.

Think about hybrids. The ICE is shut off for longer periods of time because of the electric motor to propel the car, but it is because of the time that the ICE is not running that saves gas. This has also been researched many times.

I'd take back that neg rep if I could, but don't bash things you don't know about. It may seem like a trivial thing that would only save you a couple of dimes, but I've seen some of the lines around Cobb get to the point where you will be in line for 45 minutes. If people did this while in line it would save a significant amount.

You should try holding it on the two step, and launching everytime the car infront of you moves up. And then see if you can stop before you rearend them!:D

Makes the whole waiting in line thing so much more fun.:goodjob:

Putting wear on your starter is a MYTH. its gonna get shutoff and turned back on anyway.

Thread SHOULD read:

IF YOURE WAITING IN LINE FOR GAS AND YOU HAVE MORE THAN HALF A TANK, PLZ STEP OUT OF LINE AND GO KILL YOURSELF. kthnxbi

I'll leave the car running, since I drive a civic anyway... so not much gas is gonna be wasted..

But I do love the tards driving all slow as sh!t thinking they're saving on fuel when most of the times they're burning more

LOL at waiting in line for gas. Make fun my of my diesel prices now bittches!

My friend's dad went to a VW dealership to get the new diesel Gti. There were a bunch of people waiting in line to get them, so he just jumped ahead and wrote a check for 25k. My dad asked him why and he said "I cant ****ing find regular anywhere" LOL. That's baller status.

Yea I push my car through the line.

Actually no...I leave it running. The catalytic converters in my car are so good, that the air coming out is cleaner than the air going in.

Yes, I drive a black, turbocharged, Swedish, four-door, leather-line, six-speed Ionic Breeze.

When I filled up on Sunday, the wait wasn't that long. People on Sunday evening were a lot smarter than the ones I saw Saturday morning when I was with my folks. It really helps knowing which side your tank opens on.

i just flick the key on real fast in the teg in first gear while not on the clutch. my starter moves the car just enough to roll forward. :goodjob:

Hah, that trick won't work in mine...it won't start unless the clutch is in. Saves me a broken neck though...:D

Well currently in Marietta there are 200 foot long lines an hour long to get gasoline. And I just go to my regular diesel station thats out of gas and calmly fill up when I need.

Out in the sticks, it aint a problem.

My dad is loving his Golf TDI. Diesel's actually cheaper than regular again.
