and the new tsx's
I think they are both hideous.
I liked the older rsx's, tsx's, and tl's, but I don't like the direction acura is headed...

Have to agree with you on that one.
Change the grill and I think they'd be fine.

Compared to my Type-S, the new '09 TL's look like complete garbage. When I first found out they were going to look like a pregnant version of a scion tC mixed with a poorly made Honda I had to cry myself to sleep. Performance and interior wise are still fantastic, but the new body style is just plain ugly.
This transformation is kinda like seeing Angelina Jolen go from a sexy actor to looking like Amy Winehouse's drunk and jacked up teeth lookin' ass after a long and hot Saturday night with her crowd of friends.

I liked the old tsx's and tl's a lot! Acura ****ed up big time...
I would much rather have an infiniti m35, g35, lexus gs300, is300 rather than the tl. I think the people at honda have lost their minds....no more rsx, no more nsx...WTF HONDA mistake after mistake

ehhh...the TSX would be fine with Honda grill swap.

The TL, unfortunately, has no Honda equal, so they are stuck with the bucktooth. The last two gens look much, much better.

TLs used to look so classy...now they just look overdone. The grille completely ruins it.
I'd like to see one in person though...they look awkwardly tall and skinny in photos.

Yes, it's ugly, but owners can always look to aftermarket aerodynamics.
This is a good read.

"Eager to prove that the TL is all that and a bag of chips, they brought out a BMW 335i and 335xi (http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_guide/bmw/3_series), Infiniti G35 (http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_guide/infiniti/g/2008_infiniti_g35_sedan), and Audi S4 (http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_guide/audi/s4/2008_audi_s4_sedan) to compare . . ."
"But—surprise, surprise—the TL is quicker around the track than any of the other cars. "

The Maxima is still FWD and its smaller than the Altima.
Yep, its a failed attempt.
Sure it may look nice.
The TL is improving and its proving to be an excellent car.
Sure it may look bad.
Its all about the compromises.

The TL has always been a excellent car with the exception of its very QUESTIONABLE trannys ,but saying the Maxima is a failed attempt is just ignorant.
The Maximas have always been great ,and the 09 is even better.
One of the main reasons the Maxima remains FWD is so it will not step on the toes of the G35.
BTW the TL is also FWD with the avaliblity of AWD

You have some good points there. You cant fault the Acura for being FWD but the Maxima was once the defining benchmark of a RWD sports sedan. But now its down to:
"The once-popular Nissan Maxima is no longer popular. Its sales were down 24.9% for 2007, totaling 52,574 units. Consider in 2002 Maxima sales stood at 98,502 units a year."
I'm not paying 33k for a maxima when I can get the bigger Altima with the same engine for 7k less. It cant even be RWD becase of the G35 as you mentioned. That pretty much leaves the maxima with nowhere to go.
They would have been smart to limit the Altima to just the 2.5 and reserve the 3.5 for maxima and higher.
Oh well, its their problem to figure out.

LOL it's funny how little you know...where to begin...
ONLY the 1st gen maxima's were RWD, 1981-84 models, and those were hardly the defining benchmark of anything. Maxima's have since then been FWD, and have only improved overall.
Stating that it is not popular anymore is relative so that's YOUR OPINION, many cars' sales have been down lately. And the fact of the matter is that NISSAN MAXIMA's OUTSELL V-6 model accords and camry's.
I'm not saying that maxima's are the best, but you really have no idea what you're talking about.

I say from what I remember back in the late 80s and early 90s. Back then Maximas were "the shit"! Now its just another car with nothing really going for it. The thrill is gone. My best friend's parents owned three maximas and my uncle owned two. Those cars used to talk to you and say stuff like "door ajar" and that was a big deal back then.
:lmfao::lmfao:
Umm I gave you sales figures - and those numbers are fact - not my opinion. They show that maximas are no longer popular.
Why do you insist on injecting personal attacks into all your posts anyway?

Here is a great review (http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?article_id=789695) of the new 6MT SHAWD TL that was posted on Temple of VTEC. The car was compared on the track to the 335i, G35S, and S4.
Just a taste....
Once again, the TL vaults to the top of its class in terms of performance (http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?article_id=789695&page_number=3#) for the dollar. What remains to be determined is how it will stack up to its peers in terms of everyday driving. And while Acura may be first to the punch with the media, nobody will be able to own one of these for another 12 months. By then, the competitive landscape will very likely have shifted.

Ehh they are not as common as camry's and accords on the street so maybe they are unpopular...But enough talk about maxima's and how they suck etc...
This thread is about the new tl's, and they suck. Interior is nice, car moves quick. But they made it too big, heavy, and ugly. And a luxury car has to look nice IMO...

If they put an open grille with a floating Acura emblem like the last models, it would look great. I do love the tails on the new TL, the total package beats the Camry, which looks better than ever, even with the TL's funky grille.
