well, i have been color deficient since birth , this should not be confused with the common misconception that people think , which is black and white only...

told my friend i was color blind last night and he goes "oh yea man i love black & white movies" im like wtf?

so just wondering who else on IA is? supposedly in the US its 7% of the male population...

the best way i can explain it is, if you take a look at this webpage and look at the pic of the air baloons...deuteranope is what i have apparently...and on those circular spot pictures...i dont see anything in any of them...lol

sums it up pretty well in this paragraph

There are several different kinds and degrees of color vision deficiencies. Protanomalous or deuteranomalous individuals can usually pass as a normal observer in everyday activities. They may make occasional errors in color names, or may encounter difficulties in discriminating small differences in colors, but usually they do not perform very differently from the normal except on color vision tests.

The protanope and deuteranope, on the other hand, can be severely color deficient. The real problem, as a protanope or deuteranope may see it, is there are far too many hue names (color names) used by most people without any obvious basis for using one instead of another. Why call something "orange" when it doesn't look different in any way from something else called green, tan, beige, or any of several other color names?

how the **** you drive and not run lights lol

because they are 3 very different colors....SOMETIMES depending on the light, the green is a white or the red can be an orange

light yellow can = white/beige
dark yellow can = green and many other mysterious colors

but an actual yellow is definitely going to be yellow...its just the hues/shade of the color basically

My uncle is color blind in one eye, he was born completely blind in the other. They say it's because my dad/uncles are triplets.

also dont forget that all the lights are standardized for the color blind, red, yellow, then green.

i guess...apparently there is some advantages

Color blind hunters are better at picking out prey against a confusing background, and the military have found that color blind soldiers can sometimes see through camouflage that fools everyone else. Monochromats may have a minor advantage in dark vision, but only in the first five minutes of dark adaptation.

I am to an extent, not as bad as you... I have trouble with bright colors, like orange sometimes looks more yellowish, light reds look pink, etc.
