chrome lip repair,tips?(pics)

came across a great deal on actually good rims.but all 4 rims have curb marks, and i dont know the word for cleaning agent left on the chrome lip to long and ate through it?.
Whats the best way to repair the curb marks? at work we sand them down

with 180g but repaint them(OE wheel) i want/going to keep the chrome lip..

figured wetsanding and use mothers polish would take care of the inside lip.?

^^^^^^ Sounds like it would work . plenty of people jus do that . with amazing results ... or jus step the sand paper up to like a 2000 grit then polish with mothers polishing compound ...
