although it is very fuked up, it is also partially the shops fault for doing all that work without having a contract signed, or even bringing in the person that is supposed to pay for it. Hell they should've demanded atleast half then and the other half on completion.

That really sucks. I agree with what was said earlier. The shop should have made him sign a contract.
