I have a 92' Civic Hatch with a B20B swap, stock intake manifold, full GReddy exhaust, headers and all. Coming real soon and what I want to know the power and timeslips to expect. Vtec conversion, GSR head, ported, polished, type R valves, springs, and cams. GSR Trans. Forgive me for being ignorant, lol, Im new to this Honda stuff.

maybe high 14s if you are lucky.

B20VTECs only make 150-160whp depending on if its tuned and what header you have.

Emmino is not far off

Since you're new to the honda game and I'm assuming you dont have much track experience with that setup, what he said is about right.

Well, lets see. Im about to go and spend about $2000 bucks on a head and tuning, with from what im told the head has good stuff, and Im only gonna get maybe another 30 or so hp? Something isnt adding up. So I need to get something figured out. Better flow, better cams, and better tuning is good for 30 more ponies and low 15s?! I may be mistaken but a Nissan Hardbody with the KA24E makes something like 134 hp stock and it runs 17s......Thats alot more weight and a motor that doesn't breathe all that well up top..... soooooooo, a way lighter car with even more power is only good for 2 seconds better? Sorry, im not challenging anyone, im just really frustrated. Im spending alot of money ($2000 is a good chunk of change for me) for a car that is still slow. this sucks.

are you buying good tires?
are you adding LSD?
what tranny do you have? (dont say LS)

and most importantly can you drive?

More power doesn't mean instant 12s 13s..., if you cant put the power down, or you cant drive.

I have Falken Azenis....are they any good? They look like they are.
plans for LSD yes
I have to say it because its the truth....I have an LS. It will be the first to go though. It's already destroyed, 3rd is completely gone and the only gears that dont make awful noise are 4th and 5th. A GSR trans is on the top of the list.

I'd like to think I can drive......A few people have to come to me and ask me how I launch so well.... Im not the one that gets made fun of when my friends talk about who can't drive.

if you are staying all motor the GSR trans isnt what you want, youll want the B16 Tranny much shorter gears.

WHat are you spending $2000 on? jesus.

If you have a b20 already, then my advice is

1) Buy a USED GSR head for like $400 (i know where one is)

2) Buy a Rage/Hytech header from me $350 (best header out right now proven 10whp gains)

3) Buy a GE LSVTEC kit so you can put your head on

4) Buy and ECU or chip your existing one (pm me i can do it)

5) Buy a Skunk2 Intake Manifold

6) TUNE TUNE TUNE

that setup should make around 175whp/120-125 TQ. Its about $2000 if you do the head swap yourself.

Yeah I already have a B20. $2000 sounds about right to me Lol. Minus the cost of the Trans. I would go B16 trans but I do way too much highway driving for work, so GSR it is. The GSR head Im getting is costing me $800, it has type R valves, springs, and cams, valve job, ported and polished. Should I not get it or is that too high? My GReddy header isnt good? Yeah, im getting the Golden Eagle conversion system, thats $274+shipping. A local shop where I get all of my stuff is setting me up with a stand alone for $450. They'll tune it for $300, and The skunk2 intake is $150? And I'll be doing this in my garage, so there's the $2000. Somebody told me that my cars ecu is already vtec. I just need to add two wires or something of the sort, he'll show me how. He said all 92 CX Hatches come that way.

Thanks for the help. reps.

I would need proof it actually had the work done.... before I paid 800 for it...

Btw... a 170hp gsr hatch, will only run around a 14.5... give or take some.. that is on street tires of course..

well the $800 will will do the same as a stock head. you have a b20 with low co,pression, id save the $400 personally.

Find out what "standalone" they are giving you for $450. I can chip your ECU and load CROME PRO to it for $80 and you can have Mainstream Performance tune it for around $300

so there is money saved.

Yea if your not going into the block then Type-R internals really arent going to help.Because if your head is built to rev to 9k and you block can only withstand 7k, then there is no point in spending extra cash.Gsr head alone can withstand 8200rpm safely. The stuff your getting other than the port and polish and valve job.Did he tell you who did the p&p?

Id be happy with 14s in this car with this minimal amout of work and still driving it everyday. It wouldn't be a slow car to me anymore lol.

ok, so im going to take your advice and save the $400 and just go with a stock GSR head. Yall just made great sense to me. And thats alot of money saved! Im not sure what standalone they would be setting me up with. Not sure what CHROME PRO is either.

Does it make sense to go with a GSR trans because of the amount of highway driving I do? or should I still invest in a B16 trans instead?

NO if you car is going to be driven on the hwy alot just get a gsr tranny.Unless you like spending money on gas and being in vtec. But b16 tranny does make u drive slower so less tickets lol trying to stay close to 70 so you wont be in vtec FTW!

crome is the tuning program we use when we chip your ecu. we use either crome or hondata. hondata cost you extra (probably what the shop is selling as your "stand-alone"), but for what you're looking to do crome will work perfect and save you the extra $$ (sounds like you're on a tight budget).

Oh. Crome it is then! Its not that im on a tight budget, I just don't want to waste money on stuff that won't really do anything for me right now. Know what I mean?

maybe high 14s if you are lucky.

B20VTECs only make 150-160whp depending on if its tuned and what header you have.

Emmino is not far off
