One red light signifies a major hardware failure or system error[4] , depending on which hardware failure or system error it is depends on how the problem can be fixed but in some cases there is no easy recovery and the console must be repaired or replaced. Two means the console is overheating and must be switched off and left to cool. Three, the famous 'Red Ring of Death', means a general hardware failure and the console must be sent to Microsoft for repairs. All four red lights simply means that the console cannot detect its AV cable

I have yet to have any issues with my 360, although mine wasnt one of the first gen ones either. Only problem I have had was over the weekend I was playing my brand new Madden '09 game and the disc half way into a game said "Can not read disc, clean disc, etc, etc) and I took it out put it back in then it wouldnt even try and load, so I took it back to Game Stop for a new one, and its fine.

I know the problem:

Microsoft. If it was made by Apple, it would have had trouble even getting started up. Even then, it wouldn't have anything that would be able to run on it. :lmfao:

if a cable is unplugged thats 4 red rings. (av cable)

for 1 thing
THINGS TO TRY
Try the following to resolve the problem:
1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, and then turn your Xbox 360 console back on. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 2.
2. Turn off the console, and then disconnect any connected accessories, such as controllers, Xbox 360 memory units, and the Xbox 360 hard disk. With these accessories removed, restart the console to see whether the problem persists and to pinpoint whether it is the console or an accessory. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 3.

Put your 360 in the microwave for about 5 min.
