The new Maxima is putting out 290HP and it looks sharp to boot. The two cars would do good to compete with each other. However, the Maxima is going for around $32,000 and I've seen one personally at a dealership for $40,000 with full options. The Genesis also cranks out 290HP with the V6 and can be had for less than $30,000. The V8 Genesis cranks out 370HP but will also crank up the sticker price.

Probably, the rx8's motor isn't regarded as the best rotary performance wise that's for sure. It did a lot as far as overall efficency goes, I don't think Mazda designed it to be a pure performance engine.

My uncle has an rx-8 and it hasn't had a single problem. The rotary by itself is a fail, but boosted rotary ftw. Unless you're getting into the 3 and 4 rotors which tend to make quite a bit of power by themselves.

I think the main thing about rotaries is the feel of them. I must say that rx-8, while not being the most powerful rotary ever, was an absolute blast to drive. Give me that over a honda 4-cylinder any day.

For instance, in my Kia thread you came in and blantantly said "All Kia's are pieces of sh*t" in which you were corrected and appropriately flamed for. Had you said something along the lines of, "Kia's quality isn't all that good and if I were you, I'd go for something more reliable," then you probably wouldn't have gotten the pole so hard. I love how those facts about the rotaries, how all of them fail and all. One thing ran didn't mention was that the rotary motor that failed was the one known for having weak apex seals. The turbo motors all had weak apex seals. But it's all a matter of how you take care of it. You don't treat it right, it will fail. Treat it right and it will reward you. I haven't heard of not 1 RX8 motor that has failed due to the apex seals. I've heard of them failing due to oil starvation. The renesis is the best rotary to date. You can about expect the gas mileage to be weak for such a small displacement engine. At 1.3L's, the displacement/power ratio is killing any honda out there right now.

I'm gay because my daily driver has an auto tranny? Because I didn't want to deal with the headache of having a stick shift in traffic since I commute to school? Do you really think masculinity has anything to do with what kind of tranny a car is equipped with?

I really don't feel like arguing but two things I'll comment on.

1. I get headaches driving automatics cause i feel like it is telling me what to do and when I'm in serious traffic, i still wouldn't trade the 6 speed. You get used to it if you do it long enough and it becomes beyond second nature.

2. Not just on this web site but elsewhere, a true manual is referred to as a real man's gear box. It has been that way since the 60's.

I'm not concerned with going fast period. Not in a straight line, and not around curves. I never tried to mod my car to be fast, it's more for show than go. When I floor it, my mpg goes straight to hell with my v-6. It is my daily driver, which is also why it is an auto...lol School is priority no. 1 now....not going fast

My z, which was cheap, is relativley fast, is a V6 that i run the **** out of, and is a 5spd, is my daily. and i still get decent gas. hell all but one of my DD's has been an auto, and the one auto got worse gas than any car ive ever owned, about 3mpg. its second nature once you do it long enough. when i drive an auto, i find myself reaching for the clutch and going to shift. and if you are gonna compalin about ur gas mileage, then buy a fvckin 3cyl metro. :D
