It usually happens around this time every year, because all the morons return back to school.

I don't come in that much anymore because of the idiots posting throughout. Taking the "ANYTHING GOES" theme of the Whore's Lounge to the extreme. All they do is post stupid shiit all day long and none of it really that funny at all. THESE PEOPLE KNOW WHO THEY ARE. YOU CAN'T HIDE WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS. Later, QD.

The OGs such as Paul, Brett, myself and others have a different meaning when we say that the site is going downhill. I'm sure you would agree (coming also from the logic of music and sales) that just because the numbers are up, doesn't mean the quality is. It's like a good with the bad scenario. You know when the site was small, just about every post made had a point. A meaning to it. Every post was damn near quality. None of these 16 pages of one word posts. See where I'm coming from, Julizzle? It's great to see the site as big as it is.

there is also a lot less discussion and a lot more hating and complaining (not to be mistaken for a complaint, just an observation)

I think that goes hand in hand with how the scene is heading. Old day’s people would go out of their way to help you, even if you were going to be competing against them. Nowadays you get a big f*ck you I'm busy... (‘Cept for the old schoolers). Me personally, I'm done trying to help anyone out. Tired of getting screwed over, tired of not getting favors returned... F*ck it. Obviously there are exceptions, but overall the scene will never be what it once was. Blame F&F, blame NOPI, and blame the government education the idiots are receiving, I don't care. Things have changed, and not for the better.

i used to make 2-10 topics a day. but i always got bitched at, and always ended up at ban fridays(and for some odd reason, i always seemed to win). So i gave up on IA, still pretty good community no doubt.

Truth be told, I haven't been involved in the car community nearly as much as I have in the past. Maybe in the future after things fall in to place, who knows.. I do stick around here, like a phantom, I may add... until something seems worthy to post on. There's a lot of humor, good info, and media amongst all the crap on here (much of which comes from the guys who've been around a while).

Some senior members (QD, not to single you out, but I've noticed you more than others) seem to enjoy doing a bit more bashing and demonstrate less courtesy than they have in the past. It wouldn't take much change to bring the quality of this website up a few pegs, but it's going to have to start with the more established members. Its those guys that need to set the bar for the new guys and the ppl that don't visit as frequently.

I think that if a little more courtesy was shown, it would do a lot to eliminate one word responses and encourage people to be a little more open about their thoughts and opinions about things, which, in turn, would probably improve the quality of this forum.

Not to defend QD (because he doesn't need my help) but you get what you give. I have never seen QD knock down or bash on an n00b that was making intelligent posts. N00bs pop up acting all Billy bad-ass because their Civic now has Altezzas. Running their d*cksucker like they own the joint... Get exactly what they deserve. Well not really, but it is funny to hurt their E-feelings.

b18hb
09-13-2008, 12:20 AM
Maybe, but maybe that attitude is a contributing factor of the decay of the site. It's hard to say. My reference to QD was just an illustration of the change that has occurred, even amongst more seasoned members, of the overall feel that the website presents, and the attitude that many of the members portray.

b18hb
09-13-2008, 12:24 AM
I think that if, although unlikely, we saw a shift in the way that people interact with each other on here toward a more open reception to the ideas / projects / etc., the quality of the website would improve and people would probably be more eager to get involved in different ways.

posting the throw-up smiley six times and talking about how crappy someone's car looks is excessive and unnecessary, and things like that happen a lot.

It wouldn't matter to me if you did disagree... you're entitled to your thoughts just as much as I am mine. I like hearing what other people have to say... it broadens my perspective on things and helps me to refine my way of thinking.

Exactly on point. b18hb, I don't just come out of the gate swinging. A lot of people are too busy watching my bashfest to notice my helpful, insightful or constructive criticism type posts. You have no idea how many times I've helped people through school assignments and many other non-car related topics. I'm not good under the hood so that's why you don't see me post there. I come after the Billy-Badasses that appear and think they know it all. People know of me and they take everything I say and make it worse than it should be. If they post a pic of their car (and this happens all the time) and I say it doesn't look good, followed by 20 posts that say the dude should burn it and more descriptive negative words, the dude will automatically go straight to me and start trying to bash me. And all I said was I don't think it looks good. That's it. Later, QD.
