I'm selling my daily driver to buy another Subie project car. I have owned this car since november of last year. I bought the car from a nice old guy in marietta who said his daughter drove it. That explains most of the exterior troubles. Anyways, here are some basics:
Model: 1997 Acura CL 2.2l VTEC
Color: Maroon
Miles:171,xxx (daily driver so # will go up)
Transmission: 5 speed (manual)
Title: IN HAND
VIN#: available upon request
The Good: This car gets excellent gas mileage 22-25 city/25-27 combined/27-32 highway. I just changed the spark plugs to bosch platinum 2+ that walmart sells about 1000 miles ago along with the oil. I have never used anything except fully synthetic mobil 1 oil and up until this last oil change used 5W-30. The last oil change I switched to 0W-30 to see if I could get any mileage improvement, and I maybe got another 1 or 2 MPG average (could also be the new spark plugs). The belts, timing chain, and tires were brand new when i bought the car (with 154k). I have since put newer/better tires (kumho solus) with around 30k~ish on them and plenty of tread left. I also changed the distributor cap and rotor, put a autozone intake on the car, and put a new window motor in the driver side door when it went out. I replaced both axles around 160k with lifetime remans from Advance. The car drives very smoothly no, shimmies, shakes or stutters. And VTEC still works (common for it to stop working on these motors)
The Bad: As I said before a chick drove this car before me and it shows. It has TONS of door dings, scrapes, scratches and bumps. the front bumper is the worst. But I didn't care (and neither should you) because it is simply a daily driver not a show car. The driver's side door handle (interior) is broken. I just roll down the window and open it from the outside, but if I can find a replacement before the sale then I'll fix it (takes all of 15 mins and costs maybe $30). And the cruise control is broken, I broke it putting the intake in. Apparently, the cruise control housings are fairly fragile however I have found a replacement for $30 on eBay and if you plan to take it on the highway and don't wanna take the 10 minutes to fix it yourself I'll do it. Other than that there is a ticking at idle, which I have found out to be common on high mileage honda 4 cylinders. Also the previous owner replaced the transmission (w/remanufactured honda tranny) at ~109,xxx miles, ge was never clear why. Anyways, the new transmission hasn't given me any trouble so, whatever. The leather is cracked on the drivers seat due to years of getting in and out as well.
If taken care of (oil changed, regular maintenence) then it will last another 75,000 + miles. It has been a great car that we affectionately call Chewy (the intake sounds like Chewbacca), I'm just ready to get back in a Subie. So help me out guys. Feel free to stop by, test drive poke and prod, whatever.
$3300
PM, I check more than once a day.
here are some shoddy cell phone pics.
Thanks guys!
