Now I was sitting at home today and I was thinking. This is probably a very 'noobish' question but in detail I just couldn't find the answer. I wanted to know what was the difference between a wing and spoiler on a car.

And why are spoilers so popular on FWD cars? Acura RSX, Celica GT-S, Integra, etc.

wing sticks off the trunk and has some heght to it and a spoiler has no height jus like a front lip for a car except for the trunk ? hell thats my opinion tho

Spoiler diverts air over the top surface. Wings allow air to flow over the top and bottom surface, either makinig lift (eg airplane) or downforce (Formula one).

Some FWD need downforce, drivetrain doesn't really matter as to having aero tweaks lol

A spoiler is an automotive aerodynamic device whose intended design function is to 'spoil' unfavorable air movement across a body of a vehicle in motion. Spoilers are often fitted to race and high-performance sports cars, although they have become common on passenger vehicles, as well. Some spoilers are added to cars primarily for styling purposes and have either little aerodynamic benefit or even make the aerodynamics worse.

Spoilers for automobiles are often incorrectly confused with, or even used interchangeably with, wings. Automotive wings are devices whose intended design is to generate downforce as air passes around them, not simply disrupt existing airflow patterns.
