I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday morning, again. Ya know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to camp up there sumwhere like friday night, so we could wake up early in the morning, saving a 1-3 hour drive for alot of people.

not tyring to be a kill joy but, we need a limit of people going. if there is a ****t load of people we will spend all day trying to keep evryone together. last time we had a tough time keeping everyone together and there was like 12 or 13 of us.

the last reason is the cops! if there is a very large group well will draw large amounts of attention. again im not trying to be a ****k or anything,im just saying if were gonna do this lets go about it in a smart way.

If you're new, all due respect, run with the slower group. Not at all to down or doubt your driving skills, but the EF Squad "keeps it real" up there. The fast group travels fast (at least...the did when I lead). Let them get to know you, if they don't already know you. And let them see you know how to drive. If you ARE new to the mountains, please please PLEASE run with the group as I've seen too many cars up there coming out that are fairly nice cars and they go flying off the mountain or in a ditch or something. 2 over the edge, 1 in a ditch, and several spinning out in my time JUST from my groups that I've personally witnessed up there. One of them being myself.

I heard someone say...trackday? Still awaiting orders, ya'll! I'll keep you posted...

Oh, and about the walkies...if you get walkies, great idea, but get the ones with the longest distance. Just cuz the package says 12miles doesn't mean you'll get even 6... And also, for the "two hands on the wheel," that's why I always had a "date" ride with me. Or, you can always just hit the "call" button. One quick tap, and your hand is back on the wheel. If your hand can't let go for that quick second, you shouldn't be up there, anyways...

if you've never been, stick with the first pack, and then jump up a pack as you see fitting.

Perfect example. Our "grand old man of the squad" ran stock motor. He could run right beside me on one of my worser days without a problem. I've see other cars, such as highly modded turbo'd VW's stick to the rear of the pack due to the intelligence they had to realize they weren't ready for the front. It's not about the car. It's baout the driver. And even if you think you're good...you're probably not. I'm highly respected in my skills...yet I still think I can do better with more practice. I won't by any means claim to be "good"

I say you should go ahead and put in this "LS/V with ITR Goodies" in it so you can actually make more than 120 WHP, plus a little extra power would help you get up those hills in the mountains. I'm not saying drag racing is harder than driving in the mountains but it's definitely not as easy as you think young man, ask Darryl and he'll tell you; and trust me I am no pro either. I definitely admit that it takes skill to be able to maneuver through the curves and I am willing to learn how to be a better driver in the mountains; that's if you're even that good ;) but yeah I could also give you a few pointers at the dragstrip also.

i just want to say a couple of things - i don't want to go in a group with anyone who 'thinks' they are fast. that's why i initally inquired about a 'cruise'.

i'm not interested in egos and leadfoots. attitudes and driving like that are more likely to endanger you and everyone who shares the road with you.

I was joking about the fast car thing, I may be fast I may not. I just want to enjoy my first mountain run. I have new tires, 12.5" rotors with Hawk Performance Ceramic Brakes, and Royal Purple fluids. Oh yeah they are 200 treadwear as well:

were just saying dont expect to be in the fast group cuz of those reasons. it's like i said people may start w/ one group but move up by the end of the day, it could be someone wit a d15 or a k20. it just all depends on the judgement of the leader of the group. if the leader of a slower group thinks someone is faster than the group they are in, but is keeping a safe pace they may be able to move up depending on the size the next group. leaders will be people who have experience, will not be doin stupid sh1t like crossing dubble lines etc...

Honestly, I'm not planning on going now just b/c my car is apart. But its never going to be very good on a weekend anyways, especially now with all the leafers(tourist driving up to see the leafs change :rolleyes: )driving around all slow. GoldRush will keep most of the LEOs in town for the festivities, but expect a unit up there sometime through out the day. With a group this size I would have to say, it will be as slow if not worse than our last run. If you plan on coming up get up here EARLY(pre 9am) or late (after 4pm) in the evening. The place i usually go during the weekends is 129 b/c it has two lanes going up so it doesn't matter if there are leafers or slow drivers. The past few weekends though it has been patrol rather heavily.

imo, we have 3 options:

1. stick to the day and time and just hope for the best. as was mentioned before, there might be light traffic on the roads we intend to hit anyway.

2. change the day to the following week or whatever. if we wait too long it'll be too cold and that won't be fun though.

3. keep the same date, but change the location - we could go farther north up 129 to deals gap. now THOSE are some fun roads.

I'm down to do any of the above, and will stick to the locked in day if anybody wants to join me.

at least post up so we can get a count of who all will be in and for when.

next weekend I have to stay here for the regents test and do some community service for my environmental biology class that saturday, so the following weekend is the only chance i'ma be able 2 come back for awhile...

I'm thinking noon is a nice late time for those of us who like to sleep in on Sunday.
We could meet at the Wal-Mart in Dahlonega since they won't notice a few extra cars in their parking lot way out in the spaces nobody wants to park in anyway since they're so far out.

Yep thats the main loop but they are alot of other good roads to go on also!
