Stick is the most fun. Paddle shifters the best as far as performance though (these days at least).

Where did you go to High School? (I'm from the Augusta area as well).

To me it all depends on the car/truck

x2

I don't want to be shifting a 6 speed manual in a f-150 so I'd want an auto, though I'm sure some ppl would love it..in a sporty car I'd get a stick, but in a high end super car, paddle shift FTW! my....:2cents:

Nothing like manipulating 3 pedals

stick, the paddle shifting/ Sport shift setup just takes away some enjoyment of driving.

stick, for anything sporty. Auto for trucks and suvs. Not really a fan of paddle shifters or tiptronic

Honestly I forget my truck is manual most of the time just because its what Im used to driving. I hate getting into an automatic car and going for the clutch/shifter when I go to take off or stop.

I think there is no different between a stick and the shifter pedals. You still have to control the rpm on both. Thou, I've seen ever car that comes with the shifter pedals lack of horse power compare to a stick, the Infinity G37 is the only car that doesn't loose h.p. when you buy it as an automatic or a stick.

I love the feeling of a clutch underfoot...though I appreciate the technology behind those DSG systems and such.

I had a 2 door Explorer that was a 5 speed for a while. I drove a customers 2 door exactly like mine home one night but hers was an auto. It drove me crazy all the way home :lmao:

Think manual transmission are more enjoyable. Automatics are more consistent on the track. Manual trannys can be a pain in ATL traffic sometime... But I think I still prefer my manuals...

so what about automatics with manual valve bodies found in most drag specific cars? no option for that in the poll

manual. however, the dsg tranny is pretty nifty

I cried when my dad told me he was buying an automatic corvette :'(

I think regardless of what's more efficient driving a stick is more enjoyable to me... nothing like being able to manipulate the RPM's, trying to get that perfect launch, spinning the tires when you hit 2nd perfectly... I loves it :)

edit: And I do go to push in the clutch in every car I get in regardless stick/auto LOL

I test drove a brand new Civic. The clutch felt like it was connected to a waterbox - absolutely no feedback.

It depends on my experience with that car. Auto for a DD boring car, stick otherwise.

DSG/Sequential for the track car.

I think stick is more likely to be use on a turn by turn track course. that way you can adjust the rpm when entering a corner. A automatic should be use if you are doing drag stripe racing. Cuz you get that perfect shift timing then you would in a stick, unless you had a shift timer to tell you when it's time to shift, the automatic wins for the drag. :)

wtf is an automatic shifter pedal?

i'm assuming you mean paddle shifters...a la sequential gearbox?

if so the only that it actually works on the street and the track is the VW/Audi's DSG gearbox....

then that is my choice.

it doesnt matter if its a stick or an auto. see, I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bull****. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free.

ya standard FTW. every car my family owns is a 5 speed. my z, my step dads F-150, my mustang, and hell, even my moms 98 pathfinder is a 5 speed. they generally get better gas mileage(depending on how naughty you are being) and they are cheaper too. whats not to love?

Depends on what you're doing. Sticks for autox and just general fun. Paddle shifters for road racing etc. Auto for drag racing and daily driver. I prefer to a vehicle with each, or paddle shifters if I had the money to spend on one nice car.
