I agree with you 100%. Frankly we don't have enough programs to help the needy. There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer, I just wish we had more of them.

As far as those who don't have everything handed to them...there are also those who work on there own and make it without rich moms and dads that shove a silver spoon in there childs mouth. Not having many advantages in life isn't much of an excuse to me. Bust ass at whatever you do, it'll pay off in the end. 4) The War In IRAQ costs us BILLIONS. Well think of the war in IRAQ as a social program. I personally think it was worth it to establish a deomcratic nation in the middle of a bunch of terrorist states. It helps in securing our future to have a democratic nation in the Middle East. I think thats a social program worth having considering the climate we are in.

Oil prices are stabilizing, report came out today that the demand should be no more than $100 a barrel and its looking to start heading back down to that in the near future.

dude you dont have to tell me anything about starting from nothing. my mother in father were still seniors in high school when they had me. we lived in a basement apartment in mt vernon new york and my pops worked his ass off because he would not settle for any type of program like that. and no one in the family helped either. he worked 3 to 4 jobs at a time to support me my mom and then soon after my brother. with no assistance at all. that was in 87. now if a highschool kid can do that why cant anyone everyone else? is my father some hero? hell nah! but he knew he wasnt going to be just another broke dead beat.

the idea of letting someone get by in this world without doing anything to stay on isnt a positive idea in my eyes. it can also demotivate people. but like i said on the first post this is just my lil tow cents.

All of these are taken out of context. That's not to say they shouldn't be taken seriously, it's just to say that some people edit to suit their interest and before you come to a conclusion based on this maybe you should read his book in it's entirety. It's completely understandable for him to write about his upbringing and his feelings of being multi-racial. It doesn't make him a racist. He is also welcome, according the Constitution of the US, to practice any religion he wishes. It really doesn't matter to me that he is a Muslim. That's his right as a US citizen. It would be like you writing a book telling your story about how you were molested by a priest and how you felt about it and then having someone go through and pick and choose and edit what they wanted to spread around to fit their agenda. They may make it look like you hate all of the Catholic church because you had an excerpt talking about how you hated men in the church at that point in your life due to your experiences. It's called "spinning" the story. I know because I have had it happen to me. People take what you say completely out of context and make you look bad.


There is also this law in the US called the "One-drop rule". If you have any trace of black heritage, even one drop, you are considered black. How hard do you think it is to be multi-racial when you have laws such as the "one drop rule"? He was born that way, he didn't choose to be mixed. It's the rest of the people in the world who are not "mixed" that make being mixed an issue. My nephew is mixed and he would never know the difference if he didn't go to school. We never taught him that he was any different. His school mates did, however. Just something to think about.

i took a sociology course in college, and we had to research "sex education in schools." based on the information i found "abstinence only sex education" is what stimulates teenage pregnancy. do some research on The Netherlands (which has the lowest teenage pregnancy rate in the world) and their sex education courses. the bottom line...Palin's stance on sex education IS WRONG and her daughter proved it. we all know she's supposed to represent "women," and she's doing a terrible job at it. people are already b/tching about "government assistance." well hell...what effect is having a woman who populates like a rabbit, and who's child is headed down the same path going to have on the country, and young women who may end up looking up to her???

Of course... theres ALOT of rich people whom are very stupid, very very stupid or ignorant. From Paris (OBVIOUSLY) to many of the black and white rappers and singers even the song writers. IDK why America, or why the media in particular think that a celeb can make a real difference. Or maybe I just answered my own question, those who loath over celebs are disconnected from the real world.

The thing is a Vice President job to me is to help the President during his term and fulfill his position just in case of an emergency. Um Palin who barely has any exp in politics is gonna run the country? Oh snaps, Im out.

The VP does a lot more than that, including preside over the Senate. Don't forget that the VP also gets the tie-breaking vote.

I see McCain picking Palin is partly meant to "shake things up" and back up his "Maverick" (b/s) image.
