Beautiful!!!

Man, I feel kinda bad for you M3 owners.

My friend just got one recently and was complaining today about "Man..it sucks cause it's like...everyone says you have to use a specific oil, or blow your motor....a specific filter, or blow your motor, etc..."

And we were talkin' earlier today about what he should do it, and I'm like "Ya know, the sh*tty thing is about cars like yours...you HAVE to put on expensive stuff to make it look good! LOL

Those HRE's look GREAT. Do most M3 owners stick with 19"? I'm just wondering, for my friend.

yes, most m3 owners, except for die hard track guys stick (usually they go with 18's due to weight) go with 19's... usually a 19x8.5, 19x10-10.5

I understand about the Specific oil, filter stuff...but i've owned a several german cars along with some of the higher end japanese stuff so I am completely used to it.

The M3 uses a special castrol synthetic oil thats 15w60....weird ass weight.

The wheels currently on the car are Rays Engineering 19's

I think the HRE's you've got are absolutely perfect.

I forget his name, but my bro had done this Super-charger on a white M3 and he had this beautiful 5-spoke design, staggered lips to them...looked GREAT.

I REALLY like the quality look and spoke design of those HRE's you picked up. It's almost tempting to eventually get rims like that for my FD...but in my mind, I feel kind of obligated to get a more "JDM" brand and style. I've got some 18X8/18X9 WORKS Emotion XD9 rims that have a very similar spoke design to yours, but they have almost no lip, which is actually kinda nice, and they are a simple silver-ish painted color.

Anyways.

I'd really like to see pics of your car with these new rims on them! Hurry up and put them on! lol

God yes, everything is bloody expensive for this car...those wheels are 7K new just for the wheels. People with Honda's who buy "expensive" 15"& 16" volk wheels for 2K have no idea.

By the way, doesn't putting a 2J in an RX-7 completely screw with your weight balance?

Eh you can put HRE's on anything, I had HRE's on my NSX and Supra

lol...There's been some debate on the weight distribution issue. I've read up as much as I can from other guys who have done it on RX-7 club, and so far the reviews are very supportive of the swap itself. No complaints about handling, etc. I'm not exactly going to be auto-crossing the car, so I'm not too terribly concerned.

I just know that as soon as I remind myself of the loss I took on my first FD almost 3 years ago, that I JUST NOW finished paying for, due to the rotary engine blowing after only 4 months...I said to myself "As much as I love the sound and feel of rotary, I just can't do it."

EDIT: Also, it just occured to me. One of the benefits to the overpriced 2JZ swap kit I picked up from Tech 2 Motorsports is that they say the motor mounts have the motor sitting as low and as far back as possible, which helps with clearance issues, as well as help to maintain the weight distribution as best as possible. I'm sure ONE day, if given the opportunity to weigh the car, I'd do it, and be happy to share the results.

Looks AWESOME!!! I was checking out M3's but the cost of maintance detered me from it. **** $150 at the dealership or something to do a simple oil change.

Actually, a simple oil change is about 85-90 bucks. Not bad considering a) it's 7-8 quarts of full synthetic oil (all BMW's have huge oil pans) and b) the OEM filter is about 10-15 bucks retail.

Also, the $150.00 oil change includes the cabin filter and a few other things.

Finally, remember, because of the huge oil pan, and also the filter being a canister type, most BMW's only require 1 oil change a year. If you drive in a clean (non dusty environment, are easy on your car) it's once a year or every 15k miles.

I don't beat the M3 up a whole lot so I usually change the oil twice a year. Once it's boosted, I'll go to 5k intervals :D

My 330Ci was on a once-a-year oil change plan from when I bought it new in 2001 to last year when I sold it and it ran to 108,000 miles with no issues at all. Tip top shape when I sold it.
