I've been really torn between what color I want my final "Project 2JZ-FD" to be in the end. I'm torn between Red, Black, and White.
Here's some pics of my favorites that I've found over time. Most commonly shown with either a standard '99 conversion or the Shine Auto Burnout Kit, and Scoot Hood...my favorite. The headlights shown on the "JTUNED" black FD are definitely ones I'm considering too. I love them.
Opinions?

My personal favorite mix would be Black with the complete Burnout body kit, including the front and rear fender flares as shown, along with the "Evo-R" style HID projector-style headlights as shown on the black "JTUNED" looking FD. With the Burnout kit, I probably wouldn't do the '99 spoiler...but I love it so much, I'm torn.
Also, for those who DON'T like the Scoot Hood. I kind of HAVE to go with it, because of clearance issues with the 2JZ. This info, coming from the people at Tech2 Motorsports, where I bought my motor-swap kit from. They "recommend" it for clearance. I LOVE it, personally, so I'm not really complaining..
What do you guys like the most? If you have pics on your computer that you wouldn't mind sharing, by all means!
Choices, choices, eh?
Thanks guys!

lol...
It's funny when people are like "Paint it the same color as MY car!" lol
Yeah..
It's so hard these days, regardless of WHAT car you have, to be "original"..
After the head-ache of my first rotary-powered FD, I said "Naw uh." to dealing with rotary ever again...After deciding to get back into the car world after almost 2 years. Thank you Navy for providing guaranteed paychecks! lol
If I make E-5 with the upcoming exam, that's a HELLA nice pay-raise, cause I can bank on any extra cash I save on the Basic Allowance for Housing that the Navy gives you, to live out in town, once I get back to San Diego. No other debt = more money for car. Woot! :D
I've already got the $2,500 (*gag*) 2JZ swap kit from Tech 2 Motorsporots. That was one of the biggest hurdles. I'm kinda shopping around for FD's right now. I find good deals, but they're just....not exaaaaaactly what I'm lookin' for.
Right now, I've got the guys over at Lethal working on putting a new/lower-mileage motor into a 65k original mile, one-owner, unmolested '93 Touring FD, for me. Once that's done, it'll be for sale, if anyone's interested.
But yeah, I'm REALLY thinking about Black, full Burnout body-kit w/ flares, the projector headlights, and no spoiler...
What to do about rims, though..too! hmmmmmmmz
The Black/polished lip on ANY black car is played out. Gold..MAYBE, there are a couple Advan models, and the Gram Lights that look good on FD's...
I have some silver 18X8/18X9 WORKS Emotion XD9 rims chillin' up in a friend's apt in San Diego right now. They look a little somethin' like this..
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e356/YoshiFD3S/MyRims-01.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e356/YoshiFD3S/MyRims-07.jpg
I'll tell ya, though. This whole car thing is a tough call!...Cause I've been looking at 240-260-280Z's as well, and been considering doing a 2JZ in one of those.
My brother is all like "DO IT!". Go figure. lol...He's almost done rebuilding the RB25 280Z he's so infamous for, because he sold it to my best friend. He's still got his '71 wide-body 240Z, and his '71 4-door 510, that he said is currently having some work done to it over at Mainstream w/ Turbo Dave.
Tough call!!! lol.....2JZ FD....or 2JZ 240Z?? Choices!! XD

So, I am just now putting two and two together that you are Dave's brother. Is this right?
Dave and I have had some good talks with his projects as well as with my Supra.
I cannot say enough good things about Dave and Lethal Injection Motorsports. We actually talked the other night about his plans for the 510, and it's going to be insane!
But, with all that mess aside, I honestly can't help you with your decision. As I have no idea how much desire you have for each car, but I'm sure you'll come out with with the right decision for you.
I love black cars, I really do. I just hate owning them. I have had some black cars back in the day that were just a complete pain in the ass keeping clean and they just weren't for me. Call me lazy if you will. :)
Either way, good luck with your decision making.
Wheels looks very nice, it's nice to see that you have a spare if need be.

lol, yeah... David @ Lethal is my bro.
He's the best brother a guy could ever hope for.
Yeah, my friend just picked up a '03 M3 Convertible a couple weeks ago, before we both left for Maine, and it's this "Carbon Black" color thas a blue-ish pearl to it. BEAUTIFUL color...but I'll be GD'd if he can keep that sucker clean. It's a REALLY nice-looking color, I'm trying to find a close-up pic on Google that shows the pearl..
On a good note, regarding a Black FD...the door handles on the FD means there's no REASON why mofo's need to be touching the door! LOL "Where's the door handle, dude?" "If you can't find it in the next 3 seconds, no ride for you!" lol
XD
I kinda want BOTH cars! I'm thinking about picking up a daily-driver Z, and then have the FD! Whooooo!
Since being in the Navy it's been impossible to get into the car world, and with my brother being my own personal mechanic, it's especially difficult, when I'm stationed on the other side of the country..
It just feels so invigorating to finally be able to get back into what I love more than anything in the world. It feels especially nice to know that I can actually afford to do so now, too! XD

Infini IV black, (it's really REALLY dark green pearl), it is so pretty, if the light can just baaaarely graze it, you see a bright green highlight. It's an original FC color only offered on the japanese only Infini IV of 5000 units, but ti is very special to the rotary powered vehicle and would work really well on an FD as a substitute for black.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/gallery/d/2817-2/DSC03737.JPG
edit: you're the one putting a 2Jz in the FD so you probably don't care too much about the car's roots or what it represents or the rotary history so you probably don't like this color. Not gonna bash your idea, it sounds great and fast, but I realy respect these cars as they came, and am a huge fan of the rotary engine. Good luck with the project.

I've always been a fan of white w/ carbon-fiber accents..
There's a guy on RX-7club with this white FD that's got the full RE-Anemiya kit, and it has these clean black accents to it all over, and OMG it's beautiful.
I think the the projector headlights that I like so much are part of what makes the black look better than any other color, though. The ones on the JTUNED black FD.

I'm stuck between white or black, If it was my Fd I'd probably paint it JBP of the subaru, or the rx-8 pearl white color...

- I've had an '88 Turbo II, which with that, and my brother's first SR20 S13, one of the FIRST in Atlanta... We made a nice name for ourselves back when having ~300rwhp was actually impressive to people.
- This makes my 3rd actual FD. The first one I only had for about 6 months, due to some unfortunate circumstances w/ finances and blowing the motor. I decided that if I was gonna get an FD for any reason, I wasn't going to stay rotary. I LOVE the way they sound, I love how simple the engine bay is to work with, but I wanted something more reliable. The FD is the perfect sized car for me, inside and out, I love every curve of the car.
- It's funny, because when I was home on Leave in late March, I was actually looking more towards doing doing an Aristo 2JZ-GTE swap into an SC300, or going NA-T. My bro and the guys at Lethal convinced me otherwise. "So you're telling me that you're actually TRYING to compare having a turbo SC300 to one of the most renowned Japanese sports cars ever made?" in the words of Derick. lol.... That kinda made things a little more clear to me. ^_^
So here I am, now! :D
My 65k original mile, 1 owner, unmolested FD is being brought to me this coming Sunday from FL.
It's red w/ tan interior. Compression died from sitting for so many years. Better that, than being beaten to hell IMO....I was planning on having my bro and the guys at Lethal put in another motor and either keep it as a bone-stock DD, or just sell it, if anyone's interested. I'll probably just throw it up on Autotrader and see if I get any bites.
I'll definitely ask my brother to take some pics of it when it arrives.
:D
I guess I can't say "Rotary powaaaaaaaaa!!!" like I used to, anymore though. lol :P

that works for me. I love FDs and want one, but I'd probably put an older gens engine in it as the FD rotaries are prectically glass and the 1st gens are concrete, the 2nd gens are iffy depending on how they were treated. I look forward t seeing the project done and I don't blame you for the Fd's reliability scare. I can defend 1st and 2nd gens as well as Rx-8s, but I'll be the first to say stock-block FDs are headaches, so I understand where you're gonig with it.

My Turbo II was fkn' ROCK SOLID. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED that car!!!! For a 17 year old, with my brother being about my age now, with his SR20'd S13, one of the FIRST in Georgia....MAN, those were the days..
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/11/web/563000-563999/563595_40_full.jpg?211718-245
I miss those days...
Personally, I think the 13BT from the 2nd gen's is WAAAAYYYYY more reliable than the 13B-REW. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's a FACT that they are...
My first FD that I had back in late 2005, early 2006 that I'm so unfortunately renowned for...was a BIG mistake. I was way too over my head financially, and too inexperienced to really troubleshoot and fix the problems I was having before it was too late. BEAUTIFUL car, for those that remember. I know Drop Top Miata Mike sure does. I still have pics from a great photoshoot we did together..
But man, I'll tell you what! With this new FD coming this weekend, I'm so damn excited to finally start making more progress towards my project, I'm just so...HAPPY!
