not in the current enclosure.... Next week i am buying a new 75 gallon tank for him, he is already out growing the 40 gallon tank he's in! Also giving them ample room to explore and stretch out/bask is key to good health and the lizard growing at full potential. reptiles are the ****!!!

and Scotsman...... he was 110 at a exotic petstore in oakwood called wildside! they are very knowledgeable (sp?) people up there and have top notch pets and equipment! i highly recommend them to anyone!:goodjob:

how docile are they?

dkjohnson04
08-31-2008, 10:55 PM
uhhhhhhhh....hahaha funny you ask! these are one of the most aggressve lizards you can get and at adult sizes they can cause very severe injuries to you, however, if you get one at a young age as i did and provide the right amount of attention and love they make awesome pets! mine will walk around the house when the dogs are put up and climb up the couch and across my lap then use my legs as a bridge to get to the coffee table and explore.... look them up on youtube man some people have monitors that even will sleep with them!!! it's all about how you take care of it and you must respect it also. they are WILD animals after all...................

That thing is kool as hell bro. I can't wait to meet it in person. :camera:

The people at Wildside really are top notch. The couple who own it are awesome people. They know everything about exotic animals and their store is amazing. They always had what I needed when I had my kingsnake. :goodjob:

That lil guy is awsome. My iguana was 5 1/2 feet before I had to have his tail amputtated:cry: (bad blood circulation. He's 18 yrs old. There are a few pics of him on this site) As for keeping him caged I would start getting him used to roaming the house and learning his limits (rules) Mine hasn't been in a cage in 10 years and he's paper trained and everything. I'm a huge fan of big lizards and think its really cool when some1 ACTUALLY takes care of one. Make sure you handle him ALL the time and he will stay being a great pet. Reps to you!:goodjob:

Edit-Make sure you cut his claws with a dremel tool. Cuz they can rip the hell outta yoru skin

You should raise him large enough to eat human babies.

+1. I've always wanted a large reptile like that, but maybe not quite that big:???: . That's awesome that he will walk around the house without any problems. I didnt know they could be raised/trained like that.

Do it now before he matures into an adult and becomes territorial. Mine ended up loving fury animals and was best pals with the family cat and actually defended her anytime we wanted to scold her. But yeah I would put on a pair of welding gloves. Pinch his mouth shut and introduce him to the dogs. As for the claws. Dremel them down just before you reach the vain. It will save your forearms a lot of pain:goodjob:

My friend's got a red-tail boa. I love how that same night, I was freaking out over a 2" spider, but meanwhile I'm chillin with a 5 foot snake on my neck.
