GT-R Fanboys rejoice

So, my buddy Mike (translate to guy I know from racing waaaaaay back in the day and we're still cordial and whatnot to the point where I could ride ***** in his car for a hot lap if I asked) traded in his UBEREVO for a pristine GTR last Teusday. Showed it to the hoes on Wednesday, raced it a couple of days ago. Wanna see all that in a pic/vid culmination. Of course you do. By the way, the driver of the Mustang Cobra he's racing is named Chuck. I call him Charlie Brown. He doesn't like it but it's funny so I keep doing it. On to the goodness.

Oh yeah, yes, Mike is young. YES, the car is his. YES, he has a GREAT job. YES, his Parents are loaded. YES, the ZO6 is still in the family. YES his Evo was reDONKULOUS. No the GTR isn't as fast as it...YET. And YES, Emry's Evo is almost 600hp.

Well its a nice day and I just picked up the car yesterday so Im pretty excited. Took a lot of pics and a few vids too (Thank you Gleason), and ill have them up shortly- well he will lol. Anyways, this car is simply SIQQQQ as Dan (97GstBabe) would put it lol.

First off, this thing is ridiculous with all the gadgetry it comes with. Ive never seen so many buttons, not to mention in the display screen the options seem endless. This car seems so advanced that I was almost overwhelmed trying to figure out how to play my Ipod off of it lol.

The ride of the car is truly amazing. On the expressway it felt like it was just floating and I couldn't even tell my speeds (80 felt like 55). Over bumps, tracks, and little potholes the car seems to just glide over them. There's even a mode for a "comfy ride" lol.

But to hell with comfy mode- "R mode" is where its at! Now I really didn't get into it crazy but this car shifts so freakin fast I think its humanly impossible to replicate the speeds (.2 i believe is what it measured- ya this thing can record shift speeds not to mention 500 other things as well). Doing 80-90mph with shifting at 5k seems extremely quick. For how heavy this car is and its Hp level, its almost mind boggling. The car also sounds pretty cool when you give it some gas as well:lol:

I didnt get to go through any turns last night but I did get a few spots with some corners and the car is nuts. I used to say the Evo was like a go-kart, well this thing puts the Evo to shame as far as handling goes.

In comparison with Z06 the car is far more refined. Both have good power, but the Z just has more of it and is well raw. You feel the Z06's speeds more then you do in the GTR. Not that 80 doesnt feel like 50 in the Z06 but when you go through a gear in the GTR it just doesnt feel as quick as your going where as the Z does. I wish I still had a stock corvette to compare with because acceleration as of now the Z deffinitley wins that round lol.

As you can tell, Im still a little bit overwhelmed by this car so as I figure stuff out and play with it ill post it up.

The reality is that once many people drive or experience ANY of the GTR breed, their opinion of it will probably go down a bit. Reason being, most people base their impression of the car on Top Secret built 1000hp supercars and most cars are not that beast. It's still impressive in stock trim, but I doubt it'll live up to people's dreams.

LOLZ. Mike is young but he's not stupid young. The Evo is probably the least expensive car he's owned and everything for the past 5 or so years he's driven is faster than his current car. so, I think he'll be able to handle it.

As for track time, he might take it, but he didn't buy it to beat teh world. He just wanted one.

It's definitely nice no doubt but I would have spent the money on something else.
As long as he's happy with it then that's all that matters.

Some people buy cars for the simple joy of ownership and just driving it.

Yeah. If he takes it to the track, it'd simply be to get people off his back (since everyone seems to ask for that info).

He didn't get it as an Evo REPLACEMENT so much as he wanted the car and had less need for an Evo. Simple as that. We all knew which car was going to be more "track ready". I've said that hundreds of times. But, he wanted a GTR. Nothing more; nothing less.

I'll have to find pics of the Evo. I don't have anything recent, but I'll look.

i presume the mustang wasnt stock..by the s/c whine, and the evo makes 600hp..

I was going off of the times projected for the market unit. With so many nutswinggers I just thought it would be faster than a 03 Cobra and Evo. lol:cheers:

Don't be offended by "fanboy". YOu like what you like. As far as the races, Mike beat Chuck from a dig. Keep in mind he's had it for all of a week. It only has about 140 miles on it. So, being that the car drives different than anything else currently produced, I'm sure it's a bit new to him. And even though it wasn't bought as a track car, I doubt it'll stay stock for long.

if auto is FTL, then all GTR's will lose cuz there's no manual tranny option. It's all done through the illustrious paddle shifters...which is pretty gangsta by the way.

03 Corbra's are all supercharged and the Evo was def not stock, but still either the Evo or the Cobra didn't cost 70+G's compared to the cost of the GTR. I work for Nissan and even I don't find that car to be all that.

I honestly think that in that price range the Z06 is pretty much the best bang for the buck.

Modded cars or not. That car is pretty powerful to stand up to an 03 cobra (probably modded) like it did. At 70K.. knowing that you're one of the first people in the US to own one of those cars would be awesome enough for me. I see a lot of z06's rolling around. I've only seen one GTR and an old man was driving it towards Rome.

How would it do against a stock z06? I haven't even read the specs on the GTR yet. :thinking:

Correct, but the GT-R is just sexy :). And to JITB, that cobra was probably in the 500whp range in order to pull on the car like that. definitely not stock. Also from a dig the GT-R owner definitely didn't use his launch control :P

I'd take the GTR over that Evo. I don't like Evos that are over modified on the exterior. They lose the clean lines they began with.

Okay, because of the angle of the camera, you couldn't see how nasty the launch was. He DID use launch control. That's how he caught up and moved past.

His dad has a z06 (that he actually likes a bit more than the GTR) and it'll be only a matter of time before we know how they stand up against each other. He actually commented on it (if you read, it's in there).
