i agree with you too....dude is clueless and the only so called HIPHOP rapper that comes out of his mouth is "50 CENT!"......
soulja boy....KILL YOURSELF!!!
Did you all even listen to what they asked SB, he asked him what do you consider old school... 50 cent.. i mean hes only 18 years old.. think about it. You all just totally blocked anything KRS was saying......if you listen to what they are both saying.

I'm 18 years old and I would never say 50 Cent is old school. It's pretty clear he doesn't know **** about music in general. I listened to what KRS was saying, and it's cool that he was being respectful, but if Soulja Boy is the new generation of hip-hop then it really is dead.

Thats his old school...and his motivation....
How does he not know about music in general.. you heard what he said about the new generations. its true... **** changes.. if it stayed the same noone would like it..and it wouldnt grow.

But what should it grow into? Soulja Boy is not what hip-hop should be represented as. There are tons of underground artists that will never get the credit they deserve, and they have more talent in a fingernail than he has in his whole body.

its a different type of music... it takes alot of talent to do what SB does...
Your gong into credit, and underground and all that..Its up to the artist to make money, and promote themselves. Underground artists want to make money and eat of usic just as much as SB does. its no different.. Artists get as much credit as their fans give them. Mainstream or Underground. The stuff that young dude has done in hip hop is amazing. Changed the ringtone business, changed the online promotion, Pimped the **** out of youtube, and Myspace with viral videos. And made himself rich... just think before SB was a household name.. how the whole internet promotions, fan sites, myspace pages, viral videos changed.. ringtone sales. i got nothin but respect for him...and his work ethic, and doing what he does and doing it well. And not trying to be something he isnt.

I agree. He can make it all himself, whatever, it's still ****. And for that to be considered the new generation of hip-hop is just sad.

before Sb was out, the whole ringtone sell wasnt a big market.. he has the most ringtones sold EVER! And was one of the first artists to get payed by youtube, for their amount if hits. And he gets .15$ per comment, and like .5$ per view. Whats so ignorant about people dancing? What you want young highschool kids listening to gangster music...u all are weird.

I bet you have horrible taste in music judging by your defense of this ass clown.
I highly doubt soulja boy had even heard of KRS One before the interview.
Music on youtube has always been big, look at the top played of all time. Soulja Boy is only liked by people who have no taste in hip hop, sure that's an audience but its going to breed more **** like my dougie and other **** artists.

lol i listen to everything, and probrably listen to what you listen to and more. Dont judge waht i like because im open minded. If anything i think your missing out on alot of good music by being like that. Im not defending anything or anyone opinion, if you dont like him you dont like him simple as that. All these Crazy accusations you all stir up are outrageous.. i used to feel the same way about certain artists, and than i admitted to being a hater.. So i started actually trying to learn about people..and their history.. To understand and get what they are saying or trying to do with their music. Getting a deal and making money on your first debut isnt as hard as it used to be. But lasting and continuing to be succesful at doing WHAT YOU want to do and building a fan base takes talent, i dont care what no one says.
SB was asked if he thinks he should concentrate on his lyrics alittle more. He said he "WAS" going to concentrate on his lyrics in the future//.. THAN he thought about it, and was like but " i dont want to change what i do and what makes my fans happy", "and submit to the what the haters want me to do, instead i will continue to make my fans happy". It only makes sense..right?

Soulja Boy has no substance whatsoever, that really isn't even arguable. It just sucks that he's the one who gets all the spotlight and fame when Slug, POS, Haystack, Aesop Rock, Jedi Mind Tricks...etc don't get credit because most people are too dumb to listen to something real. No argument in the world would ever make me give SB any respect.

There is no need to compare the two, they each target different markets.
People like Jedi Mind aren't trying to come out with something to take over the radio. They are trying to make hip hop/rap not something that will be a nationwide phenom and make them rich, which is why I respect them.
Soulja boy is capitalizing on americas awful taste. If the main goal was to get rich then he is a success, as far as making great hip hop he is a total failure.

I agree on why I respect them, they have talent and they don't give a **** who knows about it. But it's pretty sad that they don't get any recognition. Soulja Boy would cry like a little baby if people woke up and realized his music is garbage. I guess they can't be compared, but I don't have any other ****ty popular rap artists to compare him to as I don't listen to any.
TASTE IS ALL BASED ON OPINIONS. Im not gonna sit here and tell you your favorite artists has no talent, or you have no taste for likeing someone i dont like too much. its almost like the ricer debate.. telling other people what they should and should not like.
Slug, POS, Haystack, Aesop Rock, Jedi Mind Tricks, all get their credit were there credit is due. Underground, is it SB fault that they dont have a big enough fanbase to get them over the top and in the spotlight..? you all are the ones giving SB too much credit. There are plenty of great artists still eating very well these days.. youw ork hard people like your music you get a big fan base you make money. Underground or not thats the goal of any artists, no matter waht they say. Get their music heard, and enjoyed. You cant blame anyone else taht you dont have the success you think you deserve on anyone else but yourself.
Your telling me:
a 18 year old is solely responsible for ruining hundreds of lyrical artists with substances careers? Because high schoolers and pre-teens love to dance and listen to age appropriate music, that they can relate to. Instead of trying to be something they are not....what? these underground artists were not in the spotlight before SB...so y fault him now?

Most of the stuff I listen to would be considered extremely strange by the general population. I'm open to anything, if I like it I'll listen to it. The surface of rap these days just doesn't do it for me. You're not going to find me listening to stuff like Jeezy anytime soon because it doesn't fit the mold of what I think rap/hip-hop should be.

It's not SB's fault at all. He has the right to make whatever music he wants and get it to as many people as he can. He clearly just wants to be famous, and that's why I don't give him any respect. It's hard to understand what I'm saying I guess. It's pretty clear to me that the more underground artists are the ones who display the most talent. I listen to mostly metal, and Nickelback and 3 Days Grace get all the attention when their level of talent displayed by their music can't even touch the bands I listen to. I'm more of a purist when it comes to music, I appreciate talent and the willingness to not care how popular you get. I understand what you're saying, I just don't think we're on the same page. I don't know what you listen to, I'm sure you're very open minded and I respect that as I share that when it comes to music. I just tend to only support the stuff that has substance and displays true talent. Do you get what I'm trying to say?

I dont know if you would or you will, but if you ever watch any Sb's "SERIOUS" interviews..lol you will kind of understand what im saying more, and maybe appreciate his talent. This whole "crank dat" song wasnt his first attempt at music, he had his own small label in Miss. at 15 i believe.. it sounds crazy but its true. Whats even crazier is his first Cd was about 90% already out for a year or so from his myspace page, but still went platinum plus.. tahts crazy man and great fan dedication. The dude is very very humble to the people before him. Im not a huge fan, or trying to defend him at all. But if you listen to KRS what he said, if you think hip hop is dead you can blame the previous generation for not guiding the new generation, instead of trying to hold them back, and down play their talent.
I listen to substance music, but its all substance, and forms of expression just different ways to express it. Just think if everyone felt the need to express themselves all the same.. it would be a terrible world.

Yea I knew about SB long before "Crank Dat.." came out. He used to at least make me laugh. I can't really dog him on his talent, but if he does in fact have any it's not displayed by his current stuff imo. And "imo" is pretty much key in this argument.

Sums it up good!
He knows his audience, he gives them "feel good" dance music. He is sparking creativity if nothing else.
If I could CRANK a dance and do what he did at 18yrs old, you all could suck my dogs left ass cheek.
It would be different if he sucked and kept making music/dances, but he is a BIG hit....

I watched it again. Soluja Boi's freestyle was classic garbage. KRS One spit HIP HOP lines, catchy with knowledge that pertained to the current setting. Soulja Boi gets on some ole rims and bling crap, lol. .....and it was not even good rims and bling crap.
He is not hip hop, he is Main Stream American Entertainment.....MEAT, nasty spoiled MEAT music that makes you dance in an organized fashion displaying creativity.
WTF am I talking about?????
