After looking around I've decided to keep my 240. I've not been able to find ANYTHING near as well put together as mine for anywhere near what I've been asking. Also not been able to get any trade offers that can back up their power out put's with a dyno pull! :( I've payed for 6 dyno pulls so far and NONE of them have been close to what they say they were! :(!!
SORRY!!
I'm thinking about selling my 240sx.

Here is that last dyno pull. This was with the VCT NOT working and later found out I had a massive boost leak! Both problems are now fixed and the car pulls much harder. I've not had it back to the dyno but it feels like at least 400whp. This was also not all the way to the red line.
I've got OVER $16K in parts with receipts to prove it. This is not including labor! This is not some thrown together swap that about 95% of the cars running around have in them. This was done RIGHT!
I've got a set of eagle rods and wiseco pistons along with ss valves and Tomei cams to go in so if it does not sell I'll be pulling the motor this fall and building it.

nice looking car but i would say go get it re-dyno'd. 379 at 17psi seems low to me. i don't know alot about the rb motors, but i would assume a gt-35r on a 6 cyl should produce over 450 rwhp at 17psi.
even my little IS made 452 rwhp and 447 rwtq at 17psi.

The dynodynamics dyno at Dynoformance reads about 15-20% lower then most dyno jets or dyno packs that I have had cars put on. I’ve seen this first hand. Taking the car from one dyno directly to another.
It's not so much about a number as it is a good tune. Like I said before, the car has much more that could be gotten out of it with a stand alone or with a z32 ecu and nistune. If I keep the car This or the power fc will be going on it.

Nice.
Glad you posted the dyno. I was contemplating changing to a gt35r a while back and wondered how it would spool compared to the "big kahuna". Suprisingly, it looks like it spools just a bit later. BTW, looks like you'd be just a bit over 400hp if you pulled it a littler higher. There is a 40 hp difference on mine from 6800 to 7500.
Good luck with the sale.

Yep Andrew tunes all my stuff.
I think it is spooling the turbo sooner now as it did have a BAD boost leak when it was put on the dyno and the VTC was not working at the time. I fixed the leak and the VTC and drove the car. It was boosting 23 psi and I had to back it back down to the 17psi it was tuned at. I also logged several runs with the aux box logging A/F, boost and rpms. The car was running rich as all get out. I talked to Andrew and he told me that his O2 sensor may have been going bad when it was on the dyno. Per his advice I pulled about 2 points of fuel out on the SAFC 2 and the car felt much stronger. Under full boost the car is running an A/F of 11.2-11.6 still a little rich but with a safc 2 I'd rather have it a little rich. The car will scream!
I could have gotten the same power with a gt3076 as I am getting with the gt35r and had it come in faster. When I started the build of the car I had all the intentions of building the motor to take full advantage of the 35r and if the car does not bring what I want I am going to. I mean the turbo is not even in its efficiency range at 17psi. On a 2.5ltr engine it would be about 21-22 psi before it really started to pick up. The way it sets now it will blow the tires off all the way threw 3rd gear. More then enough for a street car.
Like I said if I keep the car it will see 30psi or more after the build up of the engine.
Thanks for all the comments guys. It means allot to someone who actually built the car! ;)

Look if your not buying the car don't even comment about what the price should or should not be. The car is tastefully done at that and I can appreciate the work. Some of the people concerned with the HP, well he did not rev it out all the way and it is not in the 35Rs efficiency range either. Good luck with your sale man, thanks for doing it right.

numbers seem low for that setup....its prolly a safe tune.
bump for you!
JTImport
08-27-2008, 06:39 PM
Thanks guys. It is a safe tune with only a safc2 and an ITC.
I guess these guys are used to seeing INFLATED numbers. Heck I've yet to see ANYONE put down 800whp on Dynoformances dyno! I think the record so far on the dyno is Mark Remic (spelling) sti. It put down 750-780whp at 40-42psi on a gt42r! It's a full blown NOPI series import drag car. So I figure anything over 300whp on their dyno is a quick car. Now we are talking REAL numbers!
I'm not saying my car is the fastest thing out their but its quick enough for what I've done to it and it has been done right not like some hack jobs you see every where! I don't know of any other car that has put down as much power on their dyno with a fully stock motor and only tunning with an safc 2 and an ITC.

Alright I've got to get this thing out of my shop to make room for another project.
This car is set up to race and has no heater or anything under the dash. It has been lightened since last post.
It also has a fresh Royal Purple oil change along with a few more shiny bits under the hood.
The first person that brings me $8000 owns it!
I am going to be posting it up on modified auto trader later today and might go ahead and put it up on e-bay tonight.
Will consider a mid 90’s and up civic dx 5 speed not moded and cash for it as my nephew needs a car for collage.

Clean civic but no thanks. I'm keeping it. I'm in the middle of pulling the motor out now to put forged rods and pistons in it so that I can up the boost to about 30psi or so. ;)
It ended up putting down almost 400whp at 17.5 psi so I can't wait to see what it does at 30!!
