OKAY NOPI INSIDERS --- WTF??

My company Serious Customs of course is registered w/ NOPI for a wholesale account. At 1st what I thought is a re-org, or adjustment (w/ the drop of the racing series and events) seems to me is something more serious. I say this based on their mass-marketing (email) notices/sales that I receive. Are they really tryna drop the SpoCom market altogether?? Is the entire company being dissolved? What gives?

NOPI IS STILL THERE AND HAVENT FILED BANKRUPCY. There is just a slow down in the market due to the economy. Us along wiht all the suppliers are feelng it.

Yea i read the 3rd post but just because they filed bankruptcy doesn't mean that they wouldn't host one if not their largest sources of income for the year. I don't know what type of numbers in sales they have during the year but I can imagine with all the people that buy tickets, vendors paying for space, and spectators they make a decent chunk of change in Sept.

Nopi has been loosing money for YEARS. Sponsors were bailing on the Nopi Nationals because Nopi just wasnt drawing the crowd, and because in some cases Nopi owed the vendors BIG MONEY for product they couldnt pay.

Theres "very well known sources" who have said that in some cases Nopi owed Sparco, Turbonetics, Skunk2, Eibach and other vendors more than $20,000 a piece and they couldnt pay.

Rumor was that they couldnt even afford to pay for their own brand line #1.

The economy does suck, but if you stay ahead of the curve it doesnt matter. Im in internet sales and yeah my sales have dropped but there is still money out there if you know what to sell.

Problem with Nopi is they still think everyone wants Body Kits and Neon Lights.

Aaaah - so failure to adjust and predict what is gonna sell. Interesting. That will kill any company. I find it hard to believe that for as long as they have been in business, they hadn't figured that out. Hard parts is what sells now - if it's not a muscle car show I am not going - no1 cares about rice anymore. The market largely has matured and grown up, and companies need to grow up with it. I hope they bounce back and re-attack.

They sold hard parts, but they got out of it and stopped stocking it.

Problem with them is they still thought Greddy and HKS and APEX-i (which had less than a 10% markup in some cases) were still what people wanted.

They didnt push or go after what people wanted, and in this business, things change OVER NIGHT.

Their inability to keep up (*cough*not listen to me* cough*) cost them their business.

Me, Btlfed, BlackR, and others all knew it, but the overaged Nopi Managment didnt want to hear it

That does make sense now that you mention it that way. I never knew that the company owed so much money to other companies. But I did noticed that they only kept specific parts that were "in" so to speak when I first started getting into cars. That was probably about 5 years or so ago when HKS Apexi etc were the big boss companies in the market; but like you said it seems that if you fall out of the loop for even a week there's a million and one new parts released and you wouldn't know what 1/2 of them are for. I looked at a superstreet magazine for the first time in months the other day and was like who the hell are all these new companies with all these new parts, sorta made me feel like I was a newbie all over again.

Hopefully they will bounce back and realize that keeping inventory in the store isn't all about having racing seats, body kits, exhausts and a blow off valve it's about the real hard parts as you were saying.
