AEM short ram or AEM cold air

Rite now on my GSR i got a AEM Short Ram intake. I am thinkin about gettin a cold air, but having doubts coz HYDRO lock. And just want to know wat is the HP diff between 2. Should i go AEM cold air or stick with short ram.

well, u can get the by pass valve to eliminate hydro lock, but im not sure what the hp differences are
I can tell you tho, that on my civic w/ a d16 motor i got 3 hp out of the cold air

Its not worth the risk... A bypass valve wont do shit if the filter is fully submerged in water.

Is an extra 0-10hp worth locking up a 3500 dollar engine?

Actually, im pretty sure it will, AEM did a test of just that, and it worked just like it was suppose to

Plus, when is your filter going to be fully submerged in water anyways, ive been driving with mine for over 7 months now w/ no problems watsoever and ive driven in some pretty heavy downpours

it will be submerged in water if you drive into a lake....and if you drive into anything deep enough to get your whole filter unerneth water....then mqybe you shouldnt be driving and im sure osmething other thne hydrolock will have occured to the car.

i am pretty sure i won't b drivin into a lake..i am just talkin about heave down pour and the filter gettin wet. Ya i no few HP is not worth my engine, but will a bypass valve really sovle the prob?? Did anybody have anyprob with CAI on their cars??

I've heard stories of hyrdrolocked engines with a bypass vavle... But since AEM claims it works.... :dunno:

if you get a by pass valve on a cold air then you mine as well stick with the short ram the bypass valve is restricting so it doesnt matter that you have the cold air you mine as well stick with the short ram or just dont drive in heavey rain or any puddles

like i been told a million times, it would take a whole lot of water to hydrolock your motor, so just like everything you own, be carefull in certain situations

all i know is i have had no problems w/ my CAI in the 7 months that ive had it

I have a CAI on my B16, & take the 2nd piece off & it's a short ram. You get more low end power with short ram because the air doesn't have to travel through as much tubing. In the long run CAI will be good because it's not sucking the hot air from under the hood. I have a cut out in front of my bumper where the CAI filter is & when it rains it gets wet all the time, never had a problem what so ever. Think about how much tubing the water has to go through & if there is a little bit of water it would probably evaporate in the intake manifold.

Even if its a 1/1,000 chance... Its a risk I don't need to take... Specially if I only have a midly built or not built at all engine... Now if I had a SERIOUSLY built NA engine, I might have one and never drive in the rain.

I got an AEM V2 Cold Air Intake and don't have a by pass valve. I was drivin in some heavy rain and never went through a puddle but water got in there somehow and hydrolocked my motor :( poor B20. I will sell ya mine if ya want it

ive got a cold air on my teggie and i saw a bit of a difference between it and the short ram, i think its worth it and i have had no problems with water, best 30 bypass i have ever bought

LOL, i just thought that who ever was wondering about the CAI's, they should know he had no problems with it and he had the air bypass valve..
