Ok, got a 90' teg... b18a1. pretty much stock except I/H/E. Car will start, but takes a minute... almost like the fuel ran out of the fuel lines and you have to turn the car over to pump the fuel up to the injectors. The car always starts, just takes a minute. After its running, it idles really low and when you push the gas, it stumbles and sputters till the rpms get to about 2500. THEN, when the car warms up it will idle smooth but will be a little high... around 1000-1100 rpm. When the car warms up the throttle response is a little sluggish, but is pretty good overall. Question is, what would be most likely to cause a problem like this?

Check engine lights? Fuel pump sound like it is coming on? Does the CEL come on and go off with key on engine off ?

No cel and the fuel pump seems to be working correctly. Previous owner said he had just done a tune up... plug wires look new.

yeah the cel comes on for about 2 seconds when you turn the key... then goes off.

I would check the valve timing, and ignition timing, also fuel pressure as a good start... vacuum source to map sensor andthings of that nature...

Borrowed this pic from someone... just cant remember. Anyways, what are the two round vaccums on the intake manifold... looks like they have a diaphram in them.

The reason i ask is so I can trace all the vaccum lines. I want to make sure all the lines are connected correctly first... then go from there.

coolant sensor

I dont understand, the coolant (temp?) sensor is the cause of his problems?
So the motor thinks the car is always cold and runs it rich?

If your ECT sensor isnt reading withing the proper spec, it cant properly control fuel trim at cold start, warm running, warm start, etc... so the ecu will always think its cold, therefore using more fuel than necessary...

I dont really think that it is the coolant sensor. I'm not sure, but it sounds like there are som vac leaks.

Also, where would the IAC sensor be? I found an electrical connection on theback of the intake manifold that looks broken (plug looks messed up ).

sounds like the fuel pump is draining back into tank ( 1 way valve bad ) and low fuel volume.

ok, I think I have all the vaccum leaks fixed. Ill try to clean the IACV now. Could someone point me in the direction of a "how to" article please. I remember seeing one somewhere, just cant locate it now when I need it.

Thanks
