getting close to swap time so pre swap jitters are coming on...i have a b16a from hmotorsonline.com that's going in a 1990 4dr ex

i'm using this article, http://www.crxresource.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=134

but i still have a few questions. i figured some of the people here will know the answers, so here i go.....
i'm pretty sure i need throttle cable off a 90-93 integra, but what about clutch cable or tranny mount. i bought the wiring sub-harness so will i need to do anything special or is it plug and play...also my car was previously wrecked on the drivers side and i think i might have dx steering knuckles and hubs on that side so should i get some from and integra and swap them both or does anyone have an extra drivers side steering knuckle/hub for an ex? :???:well that's all that comes to mind right now, if you have any other knowledge you would like to kick down please do...right now all i have is what comes with the full swap from hmotorsonline

mudave motorsports( cnt spell it) has a bracket for the intake mani so that you can use your stock throttle cable. it's like 15 buks and i am a proud owner of one

go ahead and get da knuckles when you get the axels

youll need a Mount kit from AVID or Hasportyou dont need it but Its easier to get it than rewelded. But if your short on cash you can modify the bracket for the mount and you will need to bang in sidewall by alternator to make it clear.

Thats the ghetto way to do it and i dont reccomend it because

1) you have to have a welder
2) Why go through the hassle when companies make a BOLT IN APPLICATION of mounts for $200
3) Its VERY hard to get the angle right if you dont measure everything.

Only cheap asses do that sh!t. Do it RIGHT and besides you mounts are prob shot anyway

yeah if you cant afford $200 AVID or INNOVATIVE mounts when doing an engine swap, you are a cheap ass. Do it RIGHT.

So you would rather cut, weld, hack up a car to save $200 and reuse 200k mile (15+ year old) motor mounts?

Thats retarded. Its $200, if you do0jnt have $200 then DONT MOD CARS

And thats why most honda owners have piece of sh!t cars or are a bunch of ricers.

Seriously, why would you half ass an ENGINE SWAP? Thats the mentality of most of you guys, though i guess.

Do it for as cheap as possible and as fast as possible. Thats just stupid.

LOLOLOL this argument

Best bang for you buck is buying the mounts, but......

I have personally seen people cut out DC mounting brackets and weld them to their EFs so they could use their front mount and their motors do not move in the bay. If you have the KNOWLEDGE, RESOURCES, ABILITY, and TIME do it that way. If you don't buy the prefab mounts.

if you dont have the money to do a swap RIGHT, a swap probably shouldnt be on top or your list of priorities...

You can't really say buying aftermarket mounts is better than welding new mount brackets. Because something is easier doesn't mean it's truly better.

its kinda like saying buying a rywire harness is the RIGHT way to wire up a swap car. If you can wire it by hand why buy a new harness? Buying a rywire harness is easier, but that doesn't mean it's better.

Ok id like to see some of you guys weld brackets and mounts into your EFs, then tell me it was worth savine the $200 Aftermarket, Billet, Tested Hardened rubber mounts that take about 1 min to install.

Aftermarket mounts ARE better, they are cheap, they replace USED OEM mounts that usually have well over 100k on them, they are better designed against breaking, and they are a BOLT IN APPLICATION.

The Rywire anaolgy is not even close to hacking and welding your car to accept MOTOR MOUNTS that hold YOUR ENGINE! Extending 4 wires for VTEC or buying a $100 rywire harness is not the same as cutting and welding a frame of a car to accept stock motor mounts. come on.

I cant even believe people are arguing about this.

And the aftermarket mounts eliminate the use of the front mount because they are STRONGER than factory

well Ill have to get pics of my bay because I have aftermarket mounts except on the tranny side.Which was rewelded like I said and my motor doesnt move a inch when in?Yes I believe buying the mounts would probly be easier for people that dont know how to do it.Just like before they had H series mounts for efs you would have to get a fabricator to Fab your chassis for it.

So you saying being able to utilize 3 mounting points rather than the 4 point is better?!? I promise you using 4 oem mounts is just as good as upgraded swap mounts. Then that gives you the option of using after market DC mounts in the future. 4 billet mounts > 3 billet mounts anyday. So if you have the will and the ablilty to why outsource? Plus, it gives you practice for doing a k swap in the future LOL.

Anyways, jriley sorry for whore'n up your thread. Look for a set of b-series swap mounts, a 90-93 clutch and throttle cable and you should be good homie.

Vteckidd

True that on the K swap lol

But yes the billet mounts are stronger than the 4 OEM mounts. My 240whp/160TQ LSVTEC had 3 mounts and the car vibrated so much because the motor didnt move .5 an inch under hard driving.

This is the entire reason why Hasport and Innovative dont sell 4 mounts they only sell 3

im a proud firewall banger!!! wish i would have changed that alternator before we put the motor in lol its gonna be a hastle getting it out but im using hasport mounts in my car wouldnt have it any other way. One thing i will say is if your going with a mount kit make sure you have a dremel and Reinforced cutting wheels to cut the front mount completely out!!! dont bend or bang it down like we did on my swap you will regret it later as my header and O2 sensor sat right on that bent piece of metal

The kit comes with a mount for the tranny.

Also, get matching knuckles LOL. The EX front brakes are bigger than the DX so try to find another one of those (good luck on that since they are rare). I would search for a set of 90-93 integra knuckles. :goodjob:

need the tranny mount that mounts to the engine/tranny. looks like a L.

the mount that the hasport thing goes to sits on your rear xmember.

I might have an extra around the house. I can check since i think you guys are near me.
