I have Apexi N1 on my civic... I like the exhaust note it has... What is your budget? Are you looking for just cat-back or header-back?

but on a serious note, check ebay. for the perfomance level you are at (I'm guessing its stock) they are the best for the money. just be sure and research before you click buy. I an ebay header, cat, and catback and have no complaints whatsoever.
for serous now...

Alot of it has to do with the size of piping used and the resonators being used too. A lot of ppl take of their resonators and it actually makes it sound really bad... IMO

Buddy Club Spec 2.
Sounds amazing and is relatively cheap and not so common around these parts.

I had the Greddy Evo 2 for a while on my old GSR and it sounded great. I sold that exhaust and got the HKS Hi Power and it sounded even better IMO.
I have the Invidia on my Celica now and it sounds good as well. Any of these exhausts will sound good on your teg.

Don't assume the best name brands will have the best exhaust systems for your car. Sometimes combining other name brands with another will have a immaculate result. Do your research and read all about what people have to say on forums about your car's specs and what to get that is worth the purchase. Try buying used if the exhaust system is still in good shape. You can get the best exhaust for your car if you play it smart. Try looking for a 3inch full piping and you'll be done modding that part for the rest of your cars life. :goodjob: These days, people just want a nice tone to the exhaust when cruising but a loud tone when they go all out. :D

I've heard great things about invidia and HKS. For the Maxima crew they've said good things about the Megan exhausts except for install if you are doing it yourself. Ends up being a bit short or the hangers don't quite match up and need to be bent.
Would not recommend Magnaflow unless it's installed on something with a V8. Flowmaster is nearly the same, they usually will drone at highway speeds. I've had them installed on cars with V6 engines and even though the tone is lower it still does the same. So I assume that it will be higher pitched in a car with 4cyl. That will drive most people crazy especially if you plan on driving long distances.
With anything on e-bay going for $50-200 shipped I would be wary about.
A good exhaust will always cost from $300-$1000 and up. Another note is that you should stick with 2.5" piping, because if you go with 3" you may not have enough pressure.
Now if you are running with turbo 3" works better.
This is sometimes debated though, but it is true the larger the diameter of the piping the less drone/loudness you get.
When you add headers the exhaust will be louder and lower sounding. The size of the muffler changes the sound. Smaller the muffler the louder it is and vice versa.
So for people that don't want to read...
-Cliff Notes-
HKS, Invidia, Megan are good brands.
2.5" Piping + Highflow Cat + Resonator
3" Piping is too large for anything running N/A.
Magnaflow or Flowmaster = Drone = Annoying on HWY
Ebay = Buy only if reputable brand!
Headers will make it slightly louder + lower sounding.
Small muffler = louder than a large muffler.
Two Rules to Remember.......
GOOD exhausts are not CHEAP!
Buy cheap ---> Buy twice

Actually 3inch exhaust piping is good if you are building your N/A motor. It's probably the last upgrade on the list to get for N/A builders after upgrading the internals.
Magnaflow exhaust tips just lower the noise level a bit compared to bullets and bigger sizes.
I've heard Supra's can get up to 5inch exhaust piping systems..
It's amazing what you can come up with nowadays...

Not sure if the all bold is you shouting at me or not...
That's why I added that 3" is good if you are or are going turbo. Even with bolt ons 3" is a bit much.
Now if the OP does not plan on doing turbo it is easier to find 2.5" piping and a little cheaper.
Sometimes you have to get 3" piping custom done if there are not any manufacturers out there that have it or are willing to make one for you.
Also was not talking about magnaflow tips, but the mufflers. Since tips don't really adjust the sound of the exhaust as much as the muffler will.
Now on those Supras' that you're talking about with 5" piping. Question is are they running N/A?
:)

I disagree with the FlowMaster assessment. I have a FlowMaster on my LSV setup and it is the best sounding exhaust I have ever had. Gives the car a totally different tone when compared to anything I have heard.
Very quiet when cruising and during highway cruising. Gives the a very defined "growl" when at WOT. But, at WOT, you can hear my engine more than the exhaust.
I say, if you are going B-Series, go with a 2.25 or 2.5inch piping with a 2.25in FlowMaster 60 Delta muffler.

Well I stand corrected :) Thanks for adding your experience with the Flowmaster muffler. That's what we need so that the OP can judge on what will work best for them.
I have one installed on the Max and it gets pretty loud cruising at 60mph. Around 80 is when it's near silent, but still have to turn my radio up when I listen to music.
Also have 2.5" piping and the 2.5 Flowmaster. WOT is FUN ;)
I think it would be great if we had a thread sticked on exhaust with video/sound clips and info on exhaust size and brand/engine/vehichle.
Here is a video of my exhaust. It's a bit loud for me, but most of the time people give me compliments on it.
Some like loud, some like quieter. So everyone is different :D

The sound of a flowmaster also depends where you put it. If it has pipe after it, then it will be meaner sounding. If it's at the end, it will just have a muffled sound, kinda ugly sound. A N/A B18 doesn't need 3" piping, you will actually lose power, however a H22 will actually have an increase in HP with 3" piping. If you're hardcore, you could go with a good header, test pipe, and buddy club spec 2 (the one with no resonators, mufflers, etc)

Flowmasters will only drone on a v8 or above, anything under will not drone at all. I don't have that problem on my Jeep which is an inline six and I really do like the sound of Flowmaster/Magnaflow exhaust systems on imports. Doesn't give any of that high pitched sound a lot of exhausts do. But some people like that, just not for me.

That was exactly my thinking. After going through six different exhaust setups, this one sounds the best. If I get a chance, I will post up a video clip of how it sounds.

I don't care what anyone says, 2.5" piping is 2.5 piping, whether or not it says greddy. A cat-back or axle-back is one of the few things you can skimp on. Or just get a universal muffler that fits your taste and have a shop either weld it on or make you custom piping form the cat...
