maybe I was harsh but I just don't buy that this whole big psi on pump is better craze. Is it possible, sure but its not the right way . I pressed bushur a out this on another forum an never got a straight answer. If you knew anything about cylinder pressure ignition timing quench flame front etc you would question it as well. Furthermore i am EFI University Certified, ive been around tuners for the last 7 years, worked (or bounced i guess) at 2 different shops that were heavily involved in high performance cars.

I disagree with Buschurs pump gas claims. I think its the wrong way to do things. You cant have 1 an not the other.

If anyone would like to explain

1) How do you run 30+ Psi on 93 OCTANE WITH NO FUEL ADDITVES, when no one else can?

2) What is his IGNITION TIMING values at WOT

3) Based on the answer to #2(cause i know the answer already), how can you run such low timing and not have high EGTs?

4) How can this motor last any amount of time based upon the given ignition timing, low octane fuel, high cylinder pressure and boost and heat. How do you cool the cylinder?

5) Its almost impossible for an engine to run at such low VE an make the numbers he is claiming.

6) How come ONLY BUSCHUR seems to be able to do this MAGIC of high boost pump gas machines? How come everyone ive talked to with MORE experience than me says its NOT POSSIBLE including EFI UNIVERSITY INSTRUCTORS and SHOPS THAT PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD SWEAR BY. I wont name names as to not get them in trouble.

Now i knows bushurs response an its "my superior camshafts and head design". THen i asked him even more in depth questions and his response was "im not an engineer ive never been good with technical stuff".

WHJAT? How can you say the cams you ENGINEER and the head you PORT is the reason, yet you dont know WHY?

Maybe im just looking for real world answers not the typical "i dunno".

But then again i know real engine builders and they can answer these questions.

Also most of the graphs from his cars have been

1) VERY LAGGY compared to other cars

2) DOwn on power for the turbo size (hes usually 50-100whp away from what other guys make on the same turbos) Case in point Phil only made what 580whp? JP made 640whp with the same turbo. Same motor, same mods, etc etc.

3) Call AMS and talk to them. It was funny when Bad BISH was dynoed and they were blatantly attacking AMS. It was a marketing gimick, its was a good one, but i find it hard how AMS who builds EQUALLY AS FAST AN EVO completely disagrees with Buschurs claims like i do, and no one thinks anything about that.

Mike, do you think some of the reason why he doesn't reveal much about how he does it is because he doesn't want other people doing it? If I had a trade secret/tune/knowledge/whatever you bet I'm going to dance around the questions. I have the highest WHP pump gas car that Buschur has ever built and the car runs great. I log it and look at the maps often and not once have I been concerned with timing, knock, etc... It's runs great. Also, I have about 6000 miles of HARD driving (with meth and without) in excess of 550WHP (Buschur low reading dyno) on the same motor ...no problems. I had the motor out and apart twice since then and everything look great...
Now I'm not sure where you are coming from when you make comments like these and say "it just doesn't work, or it's not true, or it never can work" when in fact my data, these data points and many cars to MANY widely known race teams etc. are in fact tangible result with proven numbers. Not silly dyno number, numbers from the track. Actually 1/4 numbers backed many times over by results/testing/tuning on several different cars.
I'm not an engineer and I don't know how to tune etc... however, I can believe real world TANGIBLE results that I have seen personally for the past 4 years. The proof is in the pudding.
I guess I'm curious as to what you are trying to prove/accomplish/learn. Answer me that and I will help you, I promise, whatever you are looking for.

Actually, the EFI 101 course is a very good class to take. I have been to it, the Motec class, and the Advanced class. It's not mail order junk.

Mike, why do some tuners make different power than others with the same setup? Experience is the answer. There are other tuners making similar power as Buschur also. Not many, but there are a few. You said there weren't. Try looking up CFT and a couple other shops in Florida.

Isn't Bluebyyou's Evo tuned by Sharif @ Forged and isn't he making 530+whp on pump gas? Is he full of **** too because he's on a mustang dyno also making that much power?

Dave has many years of experience under his belt. This ain't his first rodeo.

My car made 562whp on pump and the reason it's laggy is because its a t67 p-trim on a 2.0l motor and a big ass sheet metal intake manifold made by AMS. The manifold makes more power up top, but pays for it down low. I can and probably will switch to the ported Indy/Wilson V2 stock manifold for better mid range. Indy has many years of experience under his belt also. His V2 manifold made more power than all the other sheet metal intake manifolds tested up to 8K rpms I believe.


There is no way around the lag, this turbo isn't the best combination for the 2.0l, but paired with the stroker 2.3l motor it isn't "as bad". Don't believe me, go take a ride in Nicks car and judge for yourself. Nicks car has certain parts on it that others don't normally do and his car spools INSTANTLY and pulls like a raped aped.

He demolished that TT350Z making 608whp on RACE GAS when Nick was on PUMP GAS. He pulled 5 cars instantly and the TT gave up within seconds. How can that be? The right combination of parts and one hell of a tuner.

All I can reiterate is that the right combination of parts make the build.


Psss, you can run more timing with the p-trim turbo because of the efficient wheel used. That in combination with a kick ass "race" fmic that keeps the intake temps cooler keeps the knock count very low. The way Buschur tunes it, the EGT's are normal.

...but you already knew this though because of experience, right?

Buschur was able to defy physics if you so call it and all Mike is trying to do is understand how. just because Buschur danced around a question and didn't answer it the way you wanted him to, you automatically call bs. Now Mike, you know i got mad love for you, but sometimes you gotta take a step back and possibly reword what you're trying to get across. Mike, I'll say it again. OTHER shops are tuning Evo's on pump gas @ 28-32psi making 530-580whp. I guess they don't know what they are doing also? You want to call BS on them too.

If you want to keep up with the "I know it all because I took EFI training" or "you're all right, I don't know jack" yada yada yada, go right ahead. A few years of tuning doesn't yeild enough experience for you to be calling BS on a guy who's been doing this since you were 10 YEARS OLD or younger. His cars have ran 7's and 8's in the 1/4, what have yours run?

Also, just because you drove around street racing in some slow ass NA Honda's for a few years doesn't mean you have the experience to be calling people out on their racing experience. Yes I said it, a 200-250whp NA Honda is slow as ****! I didn't know street racing was ranked so high on the list with experience.

I just find if funny you will call BS on Buschur's tuning, but say Sharif @ Forged knows what he is doing.

Sharif tuned Bluebyyou's Evo on his Mustang dyno and @ only 27 psi is making 533whp on pump gas. They were waiting on the COP ignition to turn it up to 30 psi on pump which would probably put him right around my power if not more. Wouldn't you agree? :???:



Anyways, we retuned with some fresh two step colder NGK coppers, and ditched the ignition amplifier, and got some really nice results. Still on pump gas and stock ignition system, and 27psi for now. :) The car pulls like a raped ape! I never had a clean run previously at 26psi....now she pulls really cleanly!
