so here i am w/ my first jdm type-r swap and i was just wondering wut do i have to go through to get to at least 250 whp. i know its already good at 195 hp but the other day i raced a 350 z at the light and was neck to neck until 4th gear and it just rolled away and that pissed me off even though its at 300 hp. no nitrous just looking for all motor any suggestions?

bump for having a b18c5!
Basically you'll need to upgrade almost everything internally in the engine they have on the MARKET!! If you wanna go all out; upgrade to the best nonetheless. Top of the Line! But to do that, you need lots of senseless $$$$$. If I were you, 12's in a 1/4 mile would be the best overall speed and rep you could overall in the import scene. You'll be faster then about 70-80% of the cars around you. :goodjob: As long as you can hang with the exotics and more expensive cars like the viper, porches; majority of the expensive cars run around 12-13s in a 1/4 mile. Good luck man

All I know about the N/A route is compression which should be 12, big cams; 3inch exaust piping all the way...upgraded internals. Most of my fam that are into the import scene are N/A. I have a cousin who has a LS/V all motor running low 13's in a 4dr civic he built himself. His brother has a 99sicoupe model with the same motor you have. It all depends on your budget. ;) I'd personally just get a s2k & spoon it out, exhaust system and cruise vtec all day... ahaha

Your gonna need some crazy cams like S2Pro2's, valve train, i'd like to say at least 12:1 compr., most likely a port job/valve job, Tri-Y headers from Mr.Kidd, at least 2.5in exhaust, tb and IM, and a good tune. You might be able to get up into the 210's-230's. But most of the high horse n/a cars i've seen run at least a 2.0.

250WHP??? Basically you need to bore it out to a 2.0L! You basically going to spending tons of money if you want 250Hp to the wheels. We're talking about pistons, rods, at least 84mm-85mm bored, Port and Polished Head with a ITBS, good cams and definitely a beasty ass custom header. Tuning is the key though!

yea bone stock even got a stock type-r muffler on too and 3rd gear sometimes pops out but still, did a research on those 350's and its at 300 hp and 13.6 on a 1/4 mile V6 3.5 liter 6 speed and i got the lsd tranny w/ 4.785 final drive

Never seen NO 350z's run 13's in my lifetime.. aha runnin 13's stock is rare for a Z. High 14's and low 14's is what I see for them.

gut your car down to the dash (hell take that out and zip tie some gauges to the firewall) and get some sticky ass tires and u should be walking all over those Z cars
basically

my friend has poor man type-r runs 13.2 in a eg down in Fl and he walks on everyone even if they are spraying,he also beats boosted car.But his motor is fully built with some problems and still runs strong. If you get at least 200whp you will own alot of people.Point blank

basically all you need are some decent bolt-ons and you'll be walking all over lots of people pretty easily. is your eg a heavy ass Si or what?
I'd start with the hytech replica header, and a free flowing 2.5"id or bigger exhaust and make sure you have a good intake and you're good to go with a chipped and TUNED p28.
a bone stock itr makes 160whp on a chassis dyno. tuned with the above mods should net you ~175-180+whp. It is a noticable difference.
And you still didn't mention what transmission you have. Is it the jdm itr tranny? 96spec or 98spec?

dude have u ever actually ran a 350z, i dont think u know if those r fast or not just cuz u dont here anything about them and a 4.7 final is no difference from the 96 spec one, did research and both hit 14.1 in a 1/4 mile by Japanese pro's

haha, yes i have spanked z's and they aren't that quick. i have also driven on a 4.4 and a 4.7 and a 4.9 final drive with itr gears and with ats close ratio gearsets. my setup isn't much different than yours, but my kit is tuned. i'd say go get your car dyno'd or something. what you are posting just doesn't register for me due to the fact that it's contrary to my own personal experience.

the new Z's are faster than the old ones. The new HR Z motor has two throttle bodies where the older models have only 1, causing 2 of the cylinders to not breathe good at all.
That and depends on the driver...

lots of cams, compression ratio bs upgraded injectors all the basic mods, and a ton of dynotime to play with the cam gears and you might get 230 with a ton of cash. i tried and only got 220.3 with an ls vtec swap and a crap load of hours on the dyno. its easier to go turbo on stock internals and make that goal. but to each his own. good luck with the project...
