ok I'm in the process of building a 89 civic si with a b16 in it.

The person I purchased the car from had a b18 in it and when the car was running had the full exhausted welded in the car.

My issue is that my stock b16 header flange is 180° out from the exhaust pipe flange that is on the car.

He had a b18 with a header on then had the exhaust work done.

Have you guys ran into this or is it just me.

also if you are running aftermarket headers what type.

also especially if they are obdo. Since my header has two o2 sensors.

Thanks
Rich

you can go to any muffler shop and they can make a extension pipe.I've got greddy headers. But havent put them in yet I hope they fit. I might have to cut a piece out of the crossmember.

I believe all flanges should be the same between the dohc vtec motors. Dude must of chopped up his header and welded it back wrong causing the exhaust shop to match the new flange position. Personally, I would change out the exhaust, but that's me (I dont' like welds :D ), or you could get your cat (or test pipe or whatever welded to the exhaust) chopped off and re welded correctly.

As for what header I'm running, I'm running a 99-00 Civic Si Greddy header. It's a pretty decent header (from what I heard and the power I was making when I dynoed), but it only has one o2 opening. I used it as is for a few months, but I converted over to obd1 so I could use one o3 sensor.

You wont have to cut the crossmember. Just kill the front mount and you're good. Also, you should sell that header and get a tri-y replicas. I don't think that header would do your LS/Vtec justice.

Last thing rbwdriven, the best header for a b16 is the Toda header (this was proven on H-T). It's a balling as header (retails for $1200), if you truly trying to make few extra hp out of your 1.6.

(there's a regular in the squad that has one ;) )

buy the batlground big tube header, one piece, looks good and is 4-1

I think it's like $330, don't quote me on that though

I have a beat up DC 4-1 that came with the car and jus havn't changed it since I will be boosting again soon

I could sworn I saw you bragging about how your LSVtec was going to be a beast when you get back on the road a few months ago. So I assumed you were going that route. So you're going with just a ls then?!?

I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a deal. Really the header will be the last thing to do. I'm still buttoning up all the little things with the car right now.

I can at least say the local honda and acura dealerships love me. Spent a good chunk of change on factory parts to put it back together.

Welds make for a better sounding, better sealed exhaust mr. dare!!

DC sucks, I chopped mine up and threw it in the scrap lol.

Just cut and turn the damn flange on the exhaust, so as not to mess up your header. Bolt it to the header, and tack it in place, then drop it down to where you can reach around and weld it the rest of the way.

why?

why?

DC sports headers are an outdated design. There are plenty of other headers on the market that will perform much much better than that header. Plus, you have a lsvtec now, so you shouldn't want anything less than a tri-y header.

get rid of everything and buy some different stuff!! Do a little research on honda-tech and go from there, like dare said i'd recommend TODA, Greddy, or the one that VtecKidd sells all the time :goodjob:
