...but I'll tell the story anyway. I was heading down hwy124 towards Lawrenceville today around 3:30pm and a hideous white and blue two tone WRX got up next to me. Both of our windows were rolled up and tinted, but I could see him look over @ me. I down shifted, as did he. I dont know what gear he went to, but I went down to 1st. We both punched it and I easily pulled away from him even though I spun through the remainder of first and through second untill I let off the gas. We didnt make it too much further before we were first in line @ the red light @ 124 & dogwood. I heard him bringing up his revs when the side light turned yellow. When the light turned green, I just pulled away from him. I wasnt even at full throttle. He got up next to me then I gave it full throttle and pulled another car on him. I then shifted into second and let him get about a bumper ahead, then floored it and pulled a car again. I actually felt really bad about showing him up like that, but he wanted to play and I gave him something to play with :D

The fastest times I've been able to find was a 13.1 - 13.3. This was done at ATCO one of the fastest tracks in the country because its rumored to be shorter than 1320 feet. To be honest it doesn't matter what his stock times were. This guy has major delusions of grandeur. Read some of his old posts... everytime he goes to the track he brags about how his mods have picked up his car. :screwy:

I told him we could do it at the track for 1k. Hell I will even put up $1200 to his $1000. That covers his gas, time lost and the winnings.

I prefer the STI over both but theres just something to me that screams major homo about the Evo's.

A red SRT lowered, with the spoiler removed on some nice black rims with drag radials in the front would be a good cruiser car IMO.

There is no real answer to this "discussion" because everyone buys different types of cars for different types of reason. Someone would rather have an awd car over a fwd if they lived in a place that would get snow blizzards 2 or 4 times a year. Wouldn't you? An Srt-4 isn't a bad car, it's cheap and can be made pretty quick with minor bolt ons. Still, don't you hate it when you can't put the back windows down while you're sitting in the driver seat? Must be a pain to have to manually do it everytime. Evos are great cars too, fast from the factory and way better balanced than the Srt-4, period.

As a side note. You can buy these cars for 20k or less now a days. They're both awesome "bang for your buck" cars, imo.

This was also on his old setup and at Commerce (****ty track). I have no doubt in my mind that Willium would walk thacker the whole way down the track

I test drove more cobras than I could count. I loved the power I just couldn't get over how plastic and cheap feeling the interior was. Everytime I power shifted I could hear plastic crackle around in the interior. I had enough of that from my Camaro already.

the GT500 is the new Cobra. Its not discontinued.

The reason for discontinuing the Supra is because Toyota couldnt justify selling a $60k car under the Toyota name....but that was back in 98. Lots of rumors have been going around about a new Supra.

The G35 was the Skyline in Japan and Europe, and they dont call the new GTR the R35 for nothing.

The camaro/firebird got discontinued because Mustangs were trouncing them in the sales department. Not to mention they are coming back out...though I know you are fully aware of that fanboy.

Ford did two things right with those cars. Forged botton end, and a super charger.

Now, here are the things that are wrong.

Weak input shaft on the tremec t56

Infamous head problems. tick tick tick.

Weak ass glass like IRS.

WEIGHT.

Lack of cubic inches.

Interior. They share the exact same design, seating position, cheap ass materials as a v6 Mustang.

If you are judging how good a car is and "bang for the buck" simply by its straight line performance than a Cobra gets beat in that regard also.

My camaro will run that with 8k invested over the purchase price.

Any of the LS motors are 10 second capable with bolt ons and a 150 shot and tires. That is about $3000 if they pay for all the labor and the tune.

The ONLY thing a cobra has going for it is the fact that you can throw a pulley on it, and make about 90 more RWHP than stock.Even then you are only looking at 117-120 traps at the track at mid 11's best to low 12's. Not really impressive IMO for 450ish RWHP. Other then that you are looking at an expensive blower port job, aftermarket blower etc. Once you get into that the Cobra's playing field evens out with any other car that was around its price range.
