View Full Version : Would anybody be interested in renting a Dragstrip for the day?

I was tossing the idea around today and figured since I can't ever make it to the track on weekends why not rent it for private use. I travel so damn much and with the $hity weather this season has sucked!
If we get a couple people together it would lower the cost. I would be willing to pay for more than the majority of the total. I have done this in Michigan before and it came out to be ~$1200 for the day. That included 12 cars, any car after that raised the price due to insurance. As many runs as you wanted, time to make adjustments for a competition, etc... This would be a great opportunity to have some grudge match racing with some racers on here.
Maybe a shop would be interested in bringing some customer cars out... i don't know. What I do know is that I will probably do it regardless. So this is, what I feel to be, a great opportunity to make some passes and to have fun. I haven't spoken to any tracks yet because I wanted to get some feedback/experiences from you guys. I will be sending out e-mails to the two tracks that I know about, SliverDollar and Atlanta Dragway, if you know or suggest more let me know... Otherwise some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I know most of you on here like the 1/4 mile opposed to the 1/8th, so I would suggest silver dollar over atlanta dragway. Or if anyone is up for a little bit further drive, Carolina is the best 1/4mi track in the SE. It is just past Augusta, inside the South Carolina line. If you decide on a track other than Atlanta dragway, count me in. I can also bring a hand full of people with me.

Well, in the 1/4 we can still get the 1/8 mile calculations(unless im wrong),but than most would definently prefer the 1/4.

Good info and thank you!
I have always heard Carolina is a great track! I'll send them a email as well. However, to keep things a little closer I'm shooting for Silverdollar.

I do it every year the Saturday after Thanksgiving from 10am-5pm. Been doing it for the past 5-6 years now and not planning on quitting anytime soon.
I will suggest that you collect the money from everyone that is itching in way in advance or you will get stuck by someone. Plans change, people get sick and some just change their minds. Trust me I know this. :)
PM me your number and I will gladly get with ya and do what ever help ya need. From organizing the event, picking classes, reserving the track and guaranteeing 1/2 the rent. Silver Dollar is fine with us, haven't seen Ed in a while and kinda missing him a lil bit.
If your planning on doing it in November why not just join in with us. Carolina is closer to us than SDR. Remember it is only 15 minutes or so outside of Augusta. From Commerce area I think they are about the same distance and from Conyers Carolina may be closer than SDR.

Carolina sounds good to me. I'm around 2 hours from Augusta so thats not a bad ride for me.
Bugman, how strict are they on cages? I have a cage but I don't think everybody does.
I will not rent Commerce. That track sucks because they don't prep it good.

Phil, I heard that Carolina does say too much about the cage situation... similar to Silverdollar

Yeah about the same as SDR on hard tops and verts. When it is a private rental they don't have a particular tech in spot but if ya do something stupid they will check ya out just like SDR.
