I bought PS3 wasn't because of Gran Turismo. I don't even bother own one. At the time, Bluray player alone costed well over a grand and firmware wasn't updatable. PS3 was clear choice to get. 1 price for 2, bluray and gaming with half the cost. And Sony release firmware to update both bluray and gaming constantly to improve the experience unlike the standalone player. I was about to get Xbox 360 but hearing, and seeing how bad the hardware messing up, I decided to stay away from it. Recently I got Xbox 360 as a gift from my friend. I like the console and games, but it messed up like 4 times (if I remember right) within 6 or 7 months, and it was a brand new console. I decided to put in a PC case to cure the RROD, and I did. It has been working fine since then. I play at least 3 or 4 hours daily non stop. Temps of the CPU usually is 24C and GPU 34C. The temps are measured right at the heat sink. I like both consoles!

Any console has its own problems, but using your 2 friends' case to back your "I HEARD PS3 messes up a lot" up is weak and narrow minded opinion. Everybody know that the failure rate of Xbox 360 hardware is very high due to various problems and Red Rings of Death contributes a major part. PS3 hardware failure rate is NO where near Xbox 360's. Also like sony lost 3 billion dollars because they released the ps3 for less then it cost to make. Screw netflix I use blockbuster online oh and you can rent and purchase movies and other visual media on the PS3 and you can buy in SD or HD or even rent them too so that rules out that plus for the 360. . I still haven't brought myself to buy another 360 after mine burned out from playing mine 6 to 9 hours a day for 4 months straight, and I did turn it in for warranty and gave it to my younger brother since I had bought a PS3 in the down time. Bluray is the shiat and the DVD upscale abilities rock on the PS3. I will get a 360 when Gear of War 2 comes out so I'll have a reason and the price wil drop again soon.

That is what Xboxes, PS3's etc are for.. you're missing half the advantage of improved sound and pictures... Even the Xbox looks so much better in HD.

Have to agree with you there.... with the PS2 it was different. With the PS3 Sony is definitely targeting those with more disposable income who are a bit more into movies and music as well.. i mean... $ 599 is pretty steep for most college kids.

But PS3 also has some good shooting and action games i.e. resistance, killzone, msg4 etc. Not to mention the GTA series that started on the PS2.

Hey, I actually agree that the 360 is more about gaming, just like a Wii is also more about gaming. For me though, the PS3 is a more 'complete' package offering just one unit do satisfy all my hobbies, games, blu-ray movies, music, internet etc. I definitely don't use it 100% for gaming alone.
