WHO IS GOING THIS YEAR????
ANNOUNCEMENT

J.Bird announces the launch of
The Motorsport Nationals Supershow
Atlanta Motor Speedway
September 20 and 21, 2008.

After the overwhelming outpouring from thousands of fans and the entire motorsports industry, NOPI TV star J.Bird announces his effort to launch the Motorsport Nationals Supershow to be held on September 20 and 21, 2008 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. After hearing that NOPI Motorsports, LLC had announced cancellation of the NOPI Nationals, J.Bird began his effort to launch and promote another event to replace the NOPI event. “We just couldn’t let everyone down, the show at the speedway has grown to be one of the largest of it’s kind in the world”, J.Bird was quoted as saying earlier today. The Supershow will have much of the same look and feel as in years gone by, with thousands of show cars and trucks in the car show, a gigantic burn out contest, tons of industry vendors and booths, live music from top artists, and of course a swimsuit competition which will include all those beautiful girls you’ve come to expect whenever J.Bird hits a motorsports stage! The one new element the show will include for 2008 will be drag racing! Atlanta Motor Speedway has been developing quite a drag racing program on Friday nights over the past few years, and the show will try to incorporate that element into the 2008 Supershow.

About “Motorsport Nationals”
Motorsport Nationals was founded by industry guru J.Bird and Southeast Staging owner Bob Daniels who has served as soundstage coordinator and production designer for the Supershow for more than ten years. Together they will pull together many familiar faces as well as several new ones to make the 2008 experience unbelievable!

J.Bird has served as host of Nopi TV, Nopi Drag Racing Series, The Nopi Drift Series, and the Nopi Nationals for over a decade and most recently appeared as announcer J-Mac in “Need For Speed Pro Street” by EA Sports

Bob Daniels has produced concerts and soundstages for artists such as TI, Ludacris, Little Bow Wow, JZ, Little Wayne, Franchise Boys, 2008 Hip Hop Awards, Skid Row, Lynard Skynard, Molly Hatchett, Allman Brothers, Mothers Finest and many, many more.

On NOPI's website they still call it the "NOPI Nationals." Is NOPI trying to claim credit for an event that was pulled together at the last minute by AMS because NOPI bailed on them?

Might be interesting. An indoor event and fairly cheap to enter for a weekend event. Prolly still gonna go and check it out. Hopefully the word spreads and there's a decent turn out. Hope they post more details soon so we can get to planning and figuring things out. This is all such a cluster **** already. Details are needed and soon. I don't mean to sound impatient, and I know there is a lot into getting the event together, but there's a lot of planning and stuff that us little guys need to do in order to have a showing at the event. What's a show when the cars don't show up? Lol

GEAIGIA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER - I N D O O R S

no AMS event this year

Wow, you guys sure know how to blog! The rumor mill in this industry is unbelievable! Anyway, after a long hard week of negotiations, we are moving the Nationals to the beautiful facilities at GICC by the Atlanta Airport. Don't FREAK, your same hotel reservations will be fine. The place is off Camp Creek Parkway almost at the airport so all the 19/41 area hotels are just a couple of miles away and still the cheapest! The show will be mostly an inside deal (air conditioned and NO rain!). We will party like no other! We will have tons of cars in the car show and vendors galore, a gigantic swimsuit competition, and yes lots of live music. I have compiled as much information as I could into this cheesy web builder lame website.
The new one with online registration is coming (I promise), so stay tuned this next week because indoor space will be limited!

Here's What We Do Know!

Nothing can ever take the place of a 20 year tradition,
But we are sure gonna try!!!

What do ya get when you take hundreds of awesome show cars, tons of industry vendors,
continuous live music, AND the world's most beautiful women - IT"S THE NATIONALS, Duh!
Well we are on for the Atlanta Classic event, that fine fall day in the ATL.
In this briefing I will
attempt to tell you everything I know so far:

Admission Pricing:

Saturday Only - $30
Sunday Only - $25
Saturday and Sunday - $50

Car Show Entry Fee - $65
(Includes Admission For Two Saturday and Sunday)

We will have tons of car show classes (find out more when registration goes live this week).

There will be some special prize money for car clubs!

And did I mention tons of gorgeous women?

Need more info? Send us an email!
All will be available this coming week . . .

my car wouldn't do any better, but then again I don't care about entering or winning...if you are interested in trying to place buy a better car...Honda's are great, but they are so prevalent which makes them seem played out....To place you want something to stand out, but in a good way...and preludes blend in...:goodjob:

who cares what other ppl think anyways, if you like your car , **** everyone else...you don't need to "place" to prove to anyone your car is nice/fast...there's always someone bigger and better out there with deeper pockets...

yeah, the classes are mismatched. i mean, yeah my class is street sport compact american. but my focus does not even compare to the curves of say a mazda 3 or 6. only chance i have is standing out being diferent as i have a focus sedan st. most people that mod them are hatches. i mean at nopi last year there were like 35 focus, mine was 1 of 3 sedans. plus the st is a bit rare. my car is a true street class car. been daily driven since bought brand new june of 04. takes the kids to school, football practice, soccer practice, and is used for work. LOL but any ways. either way it should be fun. so if you see the blacked out focus sedan come say what's up. LOL

yeah, it's a long ass day, but it's for safety and i can completely understand. they can't have cars driving around inside when you still have spectators walking around. nopi at ams wasn't so safe with a bunch of jack asses driving around all the time. it sux, yes, but i understand why. that's why we got an extra car and driver, so we can leave our cars inside over night and don't have to worry about it. :bump:

Well I came home early from the show because it was TERRIBLE! They do NOT have their sh** straight. There were hardly any cars inside and just too small. The entertainment was awful. Because I paid the $65 for both days I will go back tomorrow sadly, hoping for a better turn out. And whats all this drag racing you are all talking about? Is there really going to be drag racing there and where and when?

I went and paid to park and walked around outside. Then I went in and peeked inside since the doors were open. Looked like a waste of money. Oh well I'm only out $5.

i think that it was pretty good for the first year. i think everyone is comparing it to last years nopi which was huge. u have to remember that since its the first year many people arent going to come and it was also put together at the last second, which is why it doesnt have everything nopi had. but for the first year and being put together about a month ago i think it was pretty good.

There was a big classic car and VW show / chili cookoff up in Flowery Branch and another classic car show maybe 15 miles away at Year One in Braselton. I went to the one in Flowery Branch and it was great. You guys missed out

It was pretty bad. I got there, got away with paying $3 for parking, and upon parking I saw several people leaving. I promptly asked a few groups of peopel what they thought and they ALL told me it was a waste of time/money. I walked around outside for a few minutes and looked at the cars because it was free, but then I left. I'm mad I spent the time/gas getting out there. And I managed to get another tint ticket on the way home. That's 2 tickets for tint in the last 48 hours. **** the police, they all can die.

Thats just too much for a first time show. Maybe the overhead fee to rent that place was too much for them to handle so that may be the reason the the high tickets. Hell v103 car show was stupid packed compared to this and it was cheaper!!!

I went up there just to see if there were any good rides cruisin the scene. NOPE!! Blame the economy,$4 bucks a gallon for fuel, Last min prep for a car show. Better luck next year. Thanks for the effort tho.

Yeah so um, any car shows worth the time or money coming up sometime soon? I am pretty bummed I wasted $65 on this crap...I need to redeem myself w/ an atleast DECENT local car show. Hit me up.

This was basically HIN, in comparing this to the NOPI nats, EPIC FAIL!

its far from HIN ... HIN brings some major sponsors/vendors - this was a large local event. more food vendors then car companies. roughly 350 cars inside and tons of rice outside... not worth 30$ spectate or 65$ to show. it would of been different if it was like HIN or Spring Break Nationals. I'm sorry but that amount of money no one gives a sh!t about music groups/entertainment. Bring out some nice WILD cars, slutty models, dj, big vendors, etc.

this was a chance for NOPI guys to make some $.

I don't think it was that bad. Outside I agree with everyone else. Maybe the prices were alittle steep but the fact this was put together at the last min. and they tried to put something on for crowd that was expecting NOPI. I wouldn't say it was a fail. If it were me and i was putting this on I wouldn't have rented out some huge facility and contacted alot of top sponsors/vendors not knowing how many people would show up.

I think this will grow into a bigger and better show in the near future.

just got back.. I didn't even bother showing my car inside today b/c I didn't wanna wait until after 8pm before I can leave with my car... Thats just way too long.. I saw everything at the show in 10 min... They said there was 240 cars inside and 300 cars outside.. That outside grass lot was ****ty... Not flat.... Anyways, the show was boring as hell with nothing really going on... And I agree, they charged way too much to go inside...

LOL, at all the folks who spent their money and are crying about it. I guess I was one of the few who actually enjoyed the show. Sure, it wasn't how NOPI used to be, but it was better than sitting home doing nothing. I'll happily go again next time. We need to quit crying and complaining and try to do something postive for the import scene. If you can't do something, at least try to support those who put on the shows. If not, then just stay home.
