yep as title says,
I juss got bored one day while surfin the net on other forums and came across this lil mod for your short shifter.
So i said, hey looks like a pretty good lil idea... :goodjob:
and went out to Tractor Supply and got me a few things.. which was no more than about 20 bucks:..
went home had to do a lil bit of tap & die, & saw off the end of a stud and 15 mins later i get this.. :camera: :D
it shifts like a charm ..

yea at first.. also it brings the shifter closer to the steering wheel, minimizing the time your hands are off the wheel

here we go again.... some one thinks outside the box and everyone hates on em for it.
personally, i love it. not sure of the function, but honestly dont care because the awesomeness of a DIY screwdriver handle shifter is more than enough to make up for any lack of function.
keep up the good work.

:dunno:

Your answer:
:dunno:
it only takes one hand to hold the wheel, plus that would probably slow down shifts, i could understand if it looked cool (jdm:gay:) but it doesnt
BB1_Luda
07-30-2008, 02:21 AM
wouldn't this make shifts longer?
I mean, now you have to throw the shifts like a foot to get into the next gear, instead of when it was short (around 4-6 in').
1. ya the shifter is closer to the steering wheel
2. but the long shifts completely defeat the purpose of moving it closer.
lol never seen **** like this at all before :lmfao:

I tried to leave it as just a simple, "why," but the more and more I look at it, I just dont understand, so I would "really" like to know "why"... Get it?
If you can explain, plz do so. As someone previously stated, it just seems like it leaves room for mis-shifts. I mean hey if this is the new hotness then forgive me for being wack. :dunno: Ive seen it done to drift cars because the drifter is doing so many things at one time, it just makes it easier for the driver to reach from the steering wheel to the shifter to shift, and back.
*EDIT: You guys prob already know but for those who dont the drifters replace the stock shifter with a short shifter "quick throw shifter", then it is extended.*
OhMyGodfather
07-30-2008, 02:56 AM
what does this do.
makes a short shifter back to its original use
short throw
not a short stick
ricers made the stick short
short throws to my knowledge were introduced in rally with tall poles so the driver needed limited release of his hand to shift, long rod and short throw makes it easy when he is bolted in with only half an inch of slack in his harness
Nerdsrock22
07-30-2008, 11:38 AM
Now I'm curious.
And I'm not trying to challenge it, just trying to understand. How does the "throw" become shorter by extending the length of the shaft?
Or are the drifters installing a whole new assembly (thus creating a shorter throw distance) and then installing a longer shaft? And how does the longer shaft not cancel out the improved throw?
