View Full Version : So... OPEC Finally Says It

Brett

The head of OPEC says today that Oil Prices are way to high and the market does not warrant the prices, he says it should be no higher that $78 a barrell with current Iran tensions getting better and the global economy starting to show signs of rebound.

On that news oil today so far as dropped another $3.21 to $121 a barrell. Much better than $147 we saw 3 weeks ago and oil futures show much lower prices to which means we can expect it to keep going down finally. At $78 a barrell I can expect mid $2 gas

I dont know about $6/october, but it is a scarce resource and it will eventually go up again. Even if its $2/gallon next month i still wouldnt buy a truck or suv, it is definitely going to go up again in the future.

I'll believe it when I see it at the pumps. I highly doubt gas prices will ever get that low again to mid $2!! Seriously!! You'll never see a product or a service regress that much in the market no matter how cheap the bottom dollar has gotten. It's just not gonna happen. I'd love it to drop but I can't see it doing that.

Mark my words.

You mean like housing that has dropped about 5% nationwide? Oil was artificially inflated due to speculation. As soon as Bush removed the presidential ban on drilling alot of speculators started selling off their futures for huge profits before the eventual burst. I dont think we will see the bubble burst like the dot coms did, but I think we will see speculation fall off and prices return to their true value.

I do think 78 is optimistic, but we will see and most likely maintain <100 barell gas unless there is another major supply issue.

and a big F U to those who made fun of my truck purchase... bwahaha

those who paniced and sold the gas guzzlers are going to be hurting on the huge losses they undertook. I got this truck for about 8k less then its true value.

hopefully this pans out like you said with mid 2$ gas brett, i would be extremely lucky :bump:

I would hope the people would realize that they CAN drive around a smaller vehicle and spend money on things OTHER than fuel. If fuel went below $3/gal I bet american auto makers hop back on the SUV productions instead of scrambling to make a 1/2 a$$ economy car.
