i'd recommend Genki Vol 1. its a really good way to learn, starts from scratch basically. along with using rosetta stone it works @ a good pace and what not. but if you just want a site that will translate words for you...

Avoid using pronouns whenever possible. If you know their name, use that. If the person or subject in the matter is already established, just omit it all together.

Anata > Kimi > Omae > Kisama

Kimi is a more feminine way of saying "you" but is still very informal.

Anata is used as an emphasis on that person being the "out group". Otherwise rude as in "Hey you, person not aphiliated with me" Somewhat rude.. especially to your superior :P
