At the request of another member (Puregroove), I shall put all updates in one easy to read and follow thread. So you can see where the car came from and where it goes. Here we go.

In September of 2006, I saw the car in the back of a shop in Conyers and purchased it for $100. It had the factory CVCC 1500/5 speed drivetrain in it. I spent a considerable amount of money to get it roadworthy. Complete Honda tuneup, all new tires, new brakes and a slew of other items. The car had been sitting for a year. but it ran great. For a week. Lolol. Engine blew and back to the shop again. There it sat until February of 2008 (I had more pressing financial issues at the time). The pics go in chronological order.

These pics are of the car when I first bought it and it was still at the shop. The last pic is when I brought it home and promptly lowered it.

The next three are s of the parts I got to get it running and to upgrade. First is the 1.8L Honda Accord engine to replace the blown 1.5L. Then I acquired the Deluxe gauge set that allowed me to have a tach and separate fuel/temp gauges.

Two more items for the outside and I'll be done with it; besides it getting repainted (next February). Also, just scored the original Panasonic AM/FM radio. How I'm handling the stereo is pretty simple. I have a compact size Sirius system. All I need to run it is an FM signal. I hook the antennae to the FM modulator and then the modulator into the radio and I've eliminated the FM signal. I just listen to the satellite. That way the radio still powers on (and works), I have no gaudy after market system in the car and don't have to worry about putting a CD player or anything hidden in the car. It all looks original. Later, QD.

It's kind of like different trim levels. There was the Civic 1200 and the Civic CVCC. The 1200 came in in 1973 and went on til 1979. The CVCC engine (which is a 1500 engine) popped in in 1975 and went until 1979, although the CVCC design was used in all model Civics up until around 1988. But the actual badging of the car as a CVCC ended in 1979. Back in the 70s, it was kind of like the difference in a DX or EX, ya know. The CVCC model had more options in the car, like an AM/FM radio whereas the 1200 had only an AM radio. I have a CVCC and Baby J has a 1200. Later, QD.

The CVCC was also a little bigger. Larger engine bay, longer hood/fenders/doors, and a little longer wheel base. Not much difference in weight between the two though.

Looking good, can't wait to see it with some new paint.

Personally, I'd have to do something with the side marker lights (name?) while body work is being done. On the datsun roadsters, the '70 model has similar rectangular marker lights and I can't stand them. Although, they look more in place on these cars, since they also have rectangular headlights.

Not caught up in anything. Just replying to the lack of (I guess) reading comprehension you display. I never said my car was to marvel over. This thread is what is known as a "build (restore in my case)" thread. This is a progression of what is going on with the car. It is a process that takes some people a bit longer than others to complete. You're caught up in trying to show your idiocy. But how about you doing that in the WL with all the other stupidity based posts.

And yes, putting interior parts in a car is considered a restore since my car was without those parts when I got it.

If you didn't know, restoring a car back to stock includes locating parts to a car that you need that came from the factory and putting them on the car. So before you display your ignorance like a proud nerd at a science fair, do some research on what you THINK you know. Later, QD.

1. Because of your entry in this thread with unnecessary comments. And I'm glad to see you can't wait to see it when..., but you don't have to put any of the other crap in with it. Especially when you're not knowledge in some forms of automotive terminology. See there's a reason I don't post in, say, the TURBO section. I don't know anything about it. Check into that, willya?

2. I'm QD. That's who the fuck I am to call you an idiot. Call it like I see it. And I don't know you, which is why I didn't refer to your real life persona. On here, though........ And very nice on the ever original "you're a truck driver" insult, lolol. And I'll take that easy, laid back, lot of money jo oer anything else right now. And you know what? I chose this because I wanted to, lolol. What you don't see is what you don't know.

You see, I have nothing "shoved up" my "ass." You came in with off the cuff, ridiculous comments about my restore and you got served as if you were a platter of waffles at IHOP. Just move on. You were wrong. Later, QD.

I made fogs for my '79 by taking the chrome reverse lights from a '74 and mounting them on the bumper over-rider panel. They will be upside down, but you can flip the fluted lenses over and they will work like they should. There are even holes already drilled, and they worked great. They weren't yellow-lens though.

these civics are pretty cool little cars. At one point I had two of them that I found in a barn on some property my grandpa left me. I also found a 1970 N600 tucked away in the corner. I couldn't afford the property taxes at 18, so I had to sell the land. I didn't have a way to get all of the cars out, so I took the N600 and just let the buyer have the two civics and everything else in the barn. Now I wish I would have kept the civics and left the N600. It's a rust bucket. The windshield was busted out, and I've never been able to find a replacement. The car is just rusting away in my back yard... It's probably not even worth trying to fix anymore....

anyways, you've got a pretty cool little project. Good luck with it!

That particular NOS is energy for the body, lolol. And I like the first one you posted as well.

There will be some changes made in the plans to have this car painted, fellas.

Because of the way the car had been treated/painted in the past, there is a lot more work involved to get it done right. And to ensure that I don't spend all my money on this at once, we're doing it in two stages. Next week, when the car is done, it will be done with Stage 1. Pretty much all the bodywork (rust) will be taken care of. The color will be charcoal gray epoxy with a gloss clearcoat over it to protect it for the next few months. Later, QD.

QD, car is looking amazing. The gray is going to look amazing.

Me personally would yank the motor, do the engine bay and spruce up the engine a bit just to take it one step more.

Overall, very nice Mike. :goodjob:

Thanks. And you personally might have the money for said extras whereas me personally do not, lolol. I'm not going for all out show car. Just something to look good in riding around town. Ya dig?

HOT!

I agree. That shot is bad.

is he going to be able to salvage that fender?

I guess we'll see, huh? But seeing as how it's only a fender, it would be easy to replace (which I plan on getting another to do so with). Later, QD.

That's what I'm saying. I don't need nor want all that done at all. I'll clean the bay up later on. Right now we're just trying to get it back on the asphalt to drive the season. Later, QD.

Haven't really tried. Once the car comes out of this, I will probably take a couple of months off from working on it. Will just need carpet and the stereo part fixed and I'll be done with it (besides finishing the paint job later in the year). Later, QD.

Any rust is bad rust. haha. And definetly enough to bother me. I still need to finish sanding some spots on my Accord. I've got alot of them already sanded and primed, just to be safe.

I know your not going to do this, but they had a few vehicles at sema like that, prepped up and they just laid clear over it, or a thin coat of color then clear. so sick looking.

I know, lolol. But "the end" won't be until later this year. But now, to fit in the time and money constraints, it'll come out of the shop as charcoal gray primered with semi-gloss over it. Later, QD.
