So I almost have a whole truck bed full of steel and copper. Does anyone know what the recycling prices are right now for both and where is the best place to go in Atlanta?

From my understanding, copper is almost like gold. Constructions sites get hit all the time for all the copper the thief can get. Later, QD.

Thats why I keep mine locked up in the garage. I keep all the old ballasts I get from work. I breakdown 480 volt HID ballasts for the steel and copper. I get 5-8 lbs of copper and 22 lbs of steel per ballast after they are broke down.

Dont get me started on how much you can get away with cooper and steel. I know so much theft has been going on like in LA someone tried to steel a freaking statue made out of cooper and you know those lamp post, ya well they strip the cooper linning on those wiring to make a buck. It's unbelievable that cooper is worth so much. SELL IT FAST!!!

This is what I am working with. You see the size of the ballast.... The six tubs to the right are full of just steel. The three to the left are full of copper. I dont really want to go until my truck bed is loaded!

no way if its 1.40 per pound is a single penny worth 34cents. they are not 100% copper anyways. plus i am sure its illegal to melt down currency on your own.

when you go, theyll probably run your truck over a scale then when you get off the scale theyll take everything steel wise out of the truck, then whatever the differnce is when you go across the scale again they pay you for that. its a hassle having to weigh each bit and peice

I know my co-worker just went last week with a truck bed full of steel and copper and came back with $1,700. I forgot the weight but its motivation enough

All I know is 3/4 of the money is going to be invested for my little girl and I am taking the wife out for a night on the town with the rest.

newell recycling down by the ford plant
we have an account with them for the machine shop
nothing like taking left over aluminum millings and all of the billet effups down there and coming back with cash

plus with an account they pay you more, lol

basically, you go in, weigh in
then they pull each bin off, check for other metals, weigh all of the different alloys
give you that weight, then you weigh out.. compare the two and if they come out right, joo get money

What are they paying for steel and copper? Or is it the same price everywhere?

most places pay the same to the public
if you have a company account and do alot of volume they pay you more
