iPod help? (Important)

Ok, in a nutshell its an iPod nano 3rd gen. The box one, 4 gig.

I run linux, but I will be taking care of that with Rockbox.

My problem is, I bought it used and its locked. I have no way of getting the code.

I have read many many pages on how your supposed to use iTunes to reformat it.

Well iTunes wont regonize it, nor does it show up in my computer (I also have a XP desktop).

I know the iPod works fine, I can shut it off or reset it perfectly and just for a split second I see the menu screen that I am supposed to but it goes right back to the locked screen in which you are supposed to put in a code.

Reps for help. Or if you have to do it personally Ill provide the gas/food or something if we meet somewhere.

I know that with iTunes it's a pain in the @ss to have more than one iPod on one computer. Usually have to have a seperate Windows profile for each iTune account. It's retarded. Still, if windows isn't even recognizing the iPod as a storage drive or something then I'm at a lose.

Have you checked Apple's website to see if they had any advice?

Comes set as 0000 as the default. If it's been changed, I dunno.:thinking:

You need the code... Connecting it to the computer, i-tunes will only unlock an i-pod if it's a recognized comp.

Well unfortunely iTunes doesnt recognize its there for some reason on my XP comp. I know its plugged in because its charging, but I cant get it to pull up in my computer or iTunes.

Its not frozen, I can get it to reset but not unlock.

And yeah I tried 0000... no luck. I seriously might have to break the code and it will take a week lol
