You heard right!

The AKA Rally 2008 will have its own 6 episode series on SPEED TV this fall. Casting has begun!

This is the same Rally most people saw on MTV True Life in 2004.

We will go from NYC to Vegas, August 18 - 25.

Info and driver profiles are online now: http://www.akarally.com

The cost is about $3250 per team including 2 drivers, hotels and breakfast and dinner in most cities. The price also includes all venues, clubs and other daily events.

There are a few Atlanta people signed up and it would be a blast to see more.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Even though the paying ends today, it will extend up until the week before the event. I think I only put down my deposit and I will probably pay my balance next month.

It is a blast to do and nothing will bring you more pleasure...well maybe :idb:

But it is not confirmed yet but we might be going to the Bonneville Salt Flats again (we did it in 07) for high speed runs. Last year we did this and a 350z got got up to 187mph.

Not to mention this will be on a 6 episode series on the speed channel.

this was MTV flying over head to get a few good ariel shots :camera:

The helicopter tops out at 125. We were sometimes going way over that. We were asked to slow down to the film crew could catch up with us. :camera:

We got pulled over by 3 different counties at one time. Surprisingly no one got a ticket...just held for about 30 minutes.

you can do this and be under 21 but obviously you can't drink at certain venues and sometimes people felt left out.

SPEED Signs Deal with AKA Rally
Written by: Erik Arneson 07/21/2008 - 12:46 PM Charlotte, NC

Blending the famed Cannonball Runs of the early '70s with the quintessential American road trip, the AKA Rally is an all-inclusive, high-adrenaline vacation for true car enthusiast.

SPEED has reached a deal with AKA Rally, LLC to air six 30-minute High-Def programs covering the high-speed, street-legal cross country rally, with the premiere planned for this fall.

"This agreement is the result of conversations that actually began several years ago," said SPEED's Programming VP and Executive Producer Robert Ecker. "As is often the case, the timing never quite worked out, so we are extremely pleased that the stars have finally aligned and we look forward to welcoming AKA to SPEED later this year."

Scheduled to begin in August, the AKA Rally already has a loaded field, featuring everything from Porsches to Ferraris to a DeLorean DMC-12 team dubbed "FluxThis." And the participants are just as diverse, with a father-son team, brothers, best friends, women, young men, older guys, a blind date and newlyweds already registered.

To register for the rally or to apply for the opportunity to be featured on the SPEED television program, visit http://www.AKARALLY.com or call 215.253.4225.

"Blending the famed Cannonball Runs of the early '70s with the quintessential American road trip, a veritable right of passage for young adults, the AKA Rally is an all-inclusive, high-adrenaline vacation for true car enthusiasts," said event organizer Chris Conner.

With the new program, long and short-form content will be made available through SPEEDtv.com, VOD cable, iTunes video podcasts, mobile phones, cable broadband sites and viral distribution.
