weekly photography subjects?

this is done on nikon cafe and many other photography/automotive websites. there are so many good photographers on this site i would love for everybody to participate in weekly photography "assignments" or contests. im just testing the water to see who would really take part in this and how everybody would want it done. basically a certain subject would be picked for that week and everybody would have to shoot that subject that week. for example if one week is "technology" you would take a picture of your computer, phone, TV, IPOD, ect...and post the photo you took THAT WEEK. we can do it just to post the photos or we can have contests with a poll where people vote on which on they like the most.

The only problem with voting for favorites would be people voting for somebody just because they are friends with the person. It would be a popularity contest not a true judge of artistic merit.

i thought about that and just planned on doing the poll just like i did this one...where nobody sees who voted for who. i think that would cut down on favoritism alot.

i guess ill take charge and post a thread tonight with our first photography assignment.

I am guessing that one of the rules will be it has to be a picture taken since the assignment was created. That way everybody is on an even playing field and not posting pictures they took a long time ago.
