from Jalopnik:

The 2010 Lotus Eagle has landed almost a full week ahead of its planned reveal at the British Motor Show. This single image was released on the Car Magazine website only moments ago, and we have it in full-sized glory, along with specs, after the jump.

As expected, the 2+2 features styling borrowed liberally from the Lotus Elise while taking a more grown-up spin on the Lotus design theme. A Toyota V6 lurks in the back, good for 276 HP and somewhere north of 250 lb-ft of torque. The whoa on the other side of the go is a set of 13.7 inch AP Rotors with four piston calipers and the whole enchilada rides on Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. Those back seats seem to be designed with kids in mind and adults for very short trips, thankfully they (the seats not the adults) can be removed with the check of an option box. What can't be removed is the Alpine sound system with Bluetooth and iPod connections, standard air, traction control, ABS and leather cladding. Wonder how Mr. Chapman would feel about that?

FAIL.

The proportion of the windshield compared to the rest of the car looks bad.

I have to disagree. If the windshield was at any other angle, then I think it would look out of proportion.

Eh... to me (and like thr new GTR) the shape of the upper body line and the roof/window/windshield line looks like a "< "...... or like pac-man. Not to mention the raio of door surface area compared to the side window. I guess it's the "new" thing for design, but I am not a fan.

I like it myself. Kind of looks like an Enzo's doors and side profile.

i SEE YOUR POINT, AND YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE WINDOW: DOOR SURFACE AREA RATIO. tHAT DOES SEEM TO BE THE "NEW" FAD OF CAR DESIGN.

Looks like they took everything that was salvagable from Ferrari and applied it to a Lotus. I like it, and I'm not even a fan of European design.

Wouldnt that be the new BMW 1 series engine with the boost just cranked up so it can produce 500hp?

the engine that you speak of is also in the 3 series, but no, that is an inline 6 twin turbo.

No. It is supposed to be a new motor that is going in one of the BMW SUV's. It is rumored to be a 4.8L V8, which will then be TT'ed.

The End.See, this is the problem with people. Women don't give a **** about what you drive unless it's such a pile of sh!t/econo box that everyone knows by it as a household name (Focus, Civic, Sentra, Camry etc...). Or the plan completely back fires because it's obvious you are compensating for other shortfalls (Corvette, Lambo, Bentley).

That's gorgeous. I love the interior. I'm assuming they don't make their own motors to cut down on production costs, for what you get a Lotus is very reasonably priced.

Why should they? Remember, Lotus is a small company, known for its engineering expertise. They have very limited production capacity. Why not utilize your relationship with, say, Toyota to get some good, solid, reliable engines.

It is actually very smart. Look at the Lambo's. They are now using Audi engines. Since the switch, their warranty claims due to engines have dropped more than 50%.
