View Full Version : Lifted the truck

r71 decided to put a small body lift on his truck. Obviously, it was a lot of work to do a full color change to the truck plus modify the suspension heavily. Even cut off the rear brackets on the rear end, smoothed them out, and relocated and welded them to get it right. No stone was left unturned. Truck can be jumped when he has some bigger tires - and still is daily driveable on the interstate.

Took about 2 weeks to do it all. He has a shop, so he had multiple guys to work on it. It took that long because he has 2 other projects going on right now also for himself - not including customer work.

should have spent his money on a real monster truck, in stead of halfa$$ing it.

i think if the suspension had been blue with some black true flames it would look a ton better, or the other way around

Half-a$$ing? This is just a daily driver, and can be jumped. Do you have any idea what it takes to do a color change? Obviously, you don't have a clue.

Very true. He had several of his workers putting some time into it. He also re-did the interior, but doesn't like it, so the interior will get re-done again, plus he is looking to redo the axles again with something really heavy-duty. Then it will get a new big block (probably with a 671 blower), and a stronger tranny. Still has a long way to go for him to call it finished.

Most of those guys have regular lifts - like my Chevy 4x4 - not very tall, and most of the older ones are on leafs (cheaper to lift). He needs a good straight axle up front before cutting a new driveshaft. Do you think this is his only truck?

He has this TRD FJ also.

hah. do you mean over 50k ?

a 5 inch suspension lift for an f350 is over 5k.

i love how everyone is all OMG THATS STUPID like they wouldnt drive the **** out of it.

not too crazy about the colors but i still love lifted trucks like this. my buddy justin has a huuuuuge one. all paid for with sponsorships of course lol

but i mean, at least that blue one you posted is semi driveable on the street. that yellow one just sits in his yard all day long & goes to carshows every now and then.... hah.

That's funny that those 40" tire look so small on there. Can't wait to see it with the new ones. Where is this truck located I would love to see it in person.

X2 on that one. I'm not a huge fan of that truck to big for me. But that FJ is ****ing sick! I would have murdered it completely out instead of the red though. But to each his own!

I hate trucks like this. I respect the work, but my Cherokee with a 3" lift and 32"s has seen so much more **** than that truck ever will. They just look dumb imo, waste of time and money for a big ass truck with literally no functional advantage over a normal one.

The truck is high but is pointless, with the suspension drop down **** in the front he didnt even gain hardly any ground clearance.

I don't think he really cares what teens and 20-somethings think. He has a lot of toys, this is just one of them, and not finished yet.

There is a reason for the blue/yellow combo, he has a car painted the same color. I don't like the color, but it's not my choice.

07-17-2008, 06:37 PM
i think it looked better when it was the champagne color...props on the full throttle lift and what not but i dont think the blue and yellow is very appealing but it's not my truck

I liked the old color with the 6" lift better, but he already had the FJ, so he wanted somthing taller.

07-20-2008, 05:12 PM
I can respect the hard work that I know went into this truck! I think with alittle bit bigger of a tire would change the look just alittle... Think I would have done a different color, but still looks kinda cool with the blue and yellow!

DunDunSkeert
07-21-2008, 02:44 PM
It will never go offroad, so the lift is pointless, the colors are ugly, and it probably gets 6mpg. Sounds like a waste of money to me. But that FJ on the other hand is sexy as hell.

David88vert
07-21-2008, 06:26 PM
The truck will never be taken offroad. The point is just because he can and wanted to. No other reason is needed. There is a reason for the colors. Money isn't an issue. It is getting a lot more parts later - front and rear axles, engine , tranny, etc. Not anywhere near done yet.
No one posting in this thread has put even half the attention to detail into their car as this one has already. I am certain of that.
