Should I expect to pay to rebuild the 5th gear in an SE-R LSD 5 speed tranny? The tranny is not currently in a car. You can put it in 5th, but with any gas at all it pops out. First quote I got seems high...400-600

$10,000 obo

gl with sale.

the $400 quote is prolly the best your gonna get actually at a shop.

FlipKing
07-12-2008, 11:05 PM
that quote was from a guy, not a shop. its just the 5th gear.

slostang
07-12-2008, 11:07 PM
still though, you physically have to pull the tranny and pull the tranny apart. $400 seems fair-ish.

FlipKing

The tranny isnt in the car, i've already pulled it

Might be worth looking to see if you can find a decent transmission from one that has been wrecked of just someone selling a good transmission. Might be less money and less of a headache. btw nice meeting ya a few weeks ago bro.

yeah my car was pissing me off that night... wasn't focused at all. oh well. ya got a quick car and I like the wheels on there! but I have a sunroof :taun: jk. My other project will be done soon I hope. found the guy to make my driveshaft for it...

Anyways, I am sure wunquikser and a few others will know of a good solution about the tranny. try PMing them. Or going to the Nissan section, they seem to be good help there.

lol. thx. I'll let ya know when I get the new ones. It'll either be this week. or beginning of August, and I'll meet ya at reynolds with them. You'll have to get a switch for them and maybe a little more wire depending on how much my new ones come with.

FlipKing
07-12-2008, 11:42 PM

FlipKing

you gonna let it have two door handles again or just take away the driver side one?
Oh, I didn't get a good look at the track but is hood scoop functional or molded? Wasn't sure... All I seen was taillights

Motivation

Is that from a shop or person in a garage? One thing also to look at is when paying a shop, you are also paying for a warranty, not just labor

its a person, not a shop. you saw headlights til i caught you in 3rd :D. Bitches cut a hole in the hood, so its technically functional....lol

Haha, that explains me beating you, intake, exaust, header then, Have timing now too. Even faster :D. I wasnt gonna run til I saw you, I had a new clutch with only like 250 miles on it,lol, but so far so good

Motivation
07-13-2008, 12:13 AM
lol I only ran cause my nephew (green jeep) has never been on track and he came to spend the weekend with me so he could go. Wanted him to have the feeling of going down track and have fun... I was going to start building it but once I got that motor and tranny for civic, I figured it was pointless for now.

FlipKing
07-13-2008, 12:15 AM
advance the timing, you feel a pretty big difference, and order a maf adapter and 3" filter for like 15 bucks. You'll feel the difference and you'll knock off a decent amount of time with 15 bucks

That's what it looked like before... No more header or strut bar  guy said they were "stolen" from an old friend of his... Figured it would be kinda hard to steal a header. When I start on it I think I am just going to replace with sr20VE

Cool man, i've heard those are pretty sick. I dont have the cash for that, so i'm just doing what I can with the DE, on slicks I might be high 14s now. :)
