The PDX is a good way to get your feet wet in learning to track drive. If you really want more track time, come to the NASA event in August.

be smart and spend the extra money on nice pads. the last thing you want is for your pads to melt off in 6 or 7 and to not have brakes at the end of the back straight. lol

A word to the wise:

After experience with both, stay away from the HPS and go one step up with the HP+ instead. I had HPS's on my Miata and they faded almost as bad as OEM.

do some searching. Best idea would be to go Hawk. You can get them for cheap and easy to find. You wont be driving 10/10th so you should be fine

ill do that, what experience have you had with tire brands for track days in street tire form, i've searched and seems people run the falken 615, dunlop z1, i have a set of 18x 7.5 Advan rg2's that these tires would be going on.

matthewAPM

either falken RT615's, Bridgestone RE-01, or Toyo R1r

i never once experienced fade with my Hawk HP+ pads and i used them daily, don't drive like a maniac and they work well. or just stick with oem's for daily driving and hp+ for the track days. and the initial bite on the hp+'s is ridiculously strong so watch out.

this would be my first time at the track, what are the req's for NASA??

Basically the same as for SCCA's PDX. You need a car in good mechanical condition, a driver's license and a NASA membership. The NASA membership is $44/year and you get a subscription to Grassroots Motorsports magazine.

Try doing a track day with both organizations and see which you like better. SCCA does some things well, but not others. NASA does some things well, also. However, to say that one or other is the best in the world is a matter of opinion.

VERY VERY true. Personally, I pick SCCA because of cost. If you want to do a trackday with some reallllly fast cars, go to NASA.
