I not being a nissan nut hugger Tim when i say you really cant compare the ZR-1 to the GT-R. You should really compare the GT-R to the C6Z06.. and then if you want to compare the ZR-1 to the GT-R V-Spec. 80 more hp and lighter.. soo.... we will have to wait and see what teh V-Spec really can do when it comes out.

good race and what not but again, you can't compare the too.

Vspec <VS> ZR1 should be the way that race should have been.

however the GTR <VS> C6Z06 would have been a more accurate test... so i agree with dizzle...

Skyline Specs:
480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 5,200 rpm
Curb weight 1730 kg (3814 lb)

vs

ZR-1 Spec
All-new LS9 supercharged 6.2L V-8 620 horsepower (462 kW), 595 lb.-ft. of torque
Curb weight of approximately 3,350 pounds (1,519 kg)

it was fair i can see....
GTR is in the losing zone by 140 hp and 165 tq
and has a ballast of 464 lbs...

you forgot to mention AWD...

and i could see how the attessa system would be a factor here HOWEVER, AWD does NOT constitute a 400 lb ballast and a 100 hp advantage..

The V-Spec is not even a real car yet. The supposed Lap time is not even official yet.

lol @ nissan fanboys. when are you gonna start arguing the price difference?

i'm simply saying that it will be made and it WOULD have been a better comparison if they had used a regular C6 Z06 instead of the ZR1 with a 20,000 dollar price tag difference. however a race is a race.. the ZR1 was a superior car but over all i would rather have a GTR.

Jim Mero (the vette driver) is not some schmuck out of the engineering dept. He is an accomplished driver and has raced in many SCCA National Runnofs in a Formula car with good results. He also was a driver of the first Zr-1 in the 1995 24 hours of LeMans

3 seconds aint too far behind... Zr1 did look alittle more fun on the track.

LOL at fanboy comments.

Lets compare a Porsche 911 GT3 to a S2000!

The ZR1 is probably going to be the superior car versus the GTR, and it should be. It makes vast more power, tq, and has alot bigger price tag.

I agree the GTR against the C6 z06 would be a good apples to apples comparison.

But for being that far behind, 3 seconds aint bad

the ZR-1 in the video looked a lot more on the ragged edge and loose all over and only beat by 3 seconds. im sure if that GT-R was loose and on the edge like the ZR-1 3 second would be easlier be made up...and 3 second on a 12.83 mile course is extremely close...

You still don't get what i meant. The GTR V-Spec is on the same boat as the LF-A. Random stop watches around the road and the LF-A was in the 7:20's.
But again, not official times.

Oh and for the GTR not being on the ragged edge in it's run, check it's exit of the Karussel and tell me that.

AWD on street tires is probably worth close to 100hp and 500lbs of ballast, you never even have to think about applying the power coming off the corners. I wish they would put a throttle percentage counter on the screen so you could see what I'm talking about.

As soon as the GTR is pointed past the apex he is 100 percent throttle, the vette is having to feed it in. Put them booth on slicks and watch how bad the GTR gets walked.

if they were both on slicks do you really think it would make that much of a diffrence? remember they would both get faster not just the zr1.

carbon brakes make a difference also, the ZR-1 has the same (exact) brakes as a Ferrari Enzo, they are awesome.

But, how much does it cost for a brake job????

Answer:

The brakes for the Ferrari Enzo were developed by Brembo and are made of carbo-ceramic material (CCM). Ferrari has been using brakes made of similar materials in their Formula One efforts but this is the first time it has seen service in a road car. The advantage behind the exotic materials is weight reduction; unsprung weight was reduced by a whopping 12.5 kg. (27.5 lbs.). There is a price for the advantages however. A set of brake pads is said to cost $6,000 and for the rotors the bill is $24,000. Ferrari does claim better reliability with the design. ABS, missing on the F50, is part of the Ferrari Enzo.

I would rather have the GTR. But i did notice a few slips from the vette, however the power/weight difference im not struned the zr1 won.
