After we've had to adore the turbocharged Skyline GT-R from afar for nearly two decades, Nissan is officially selling its game-changing super coupe on U.S. shores for the first time. In a late night ceremony at a Universal City, California dealership, Daryl Alison took delivery of the very first GT-R sold Stateside – by the automaker. The event included all the pomp and circumstance you'd expect, including an appearance by notorious hot-shoe, Steve Millen. Alison, a long-time Nissan fan whose garage has housed a number of sports cars, including several 350Zs, was grinning from ear-to-ear while he got a rundown on this black GT-R in Premium trim. Not surprisingly, Alison paid sticker price ($72,900) for his GT-R, likely to be the first and last to do so as owners begin taking delivery of their own GT-Rs in the following weeks.

um? That's good logic. Just cause a car can beat its ring time, it's a worthless car

I'd have a 911 Turbo or GT3 over both the GTR and ZR1 and both Porsches are slower than the two.

P.s. TOP GEAR goes on holiday in Japan this Sunday and the GTR is involved in an epic race.

We're heading off to Japan, the land of unnecessarily complicated toilets, tiny trees and the world's most hotly anticipated new supercar - the Nissan GT-R. It's time for the latest of our patented epic races.

Jeremy will be getting behind the wheel of the Porsche-baiting Nissan, while Richard and James are to make good use of Japan's legendarily punctual public transport system.

Also, Clarkson hammers the impossibly pretty Alfa Romeo 8C around our test track, to see if its beauty is more than just skin-deep.

And, Fiona Bruce and Kate Silverton are our next pair of stars in a reasonably priced car.

Yes, but you have to admit that both the GTR and ZR1 fare very impressively in the dollar vs true overall performance category.

Last week? I...am not sure I really believe this. Seriously. Last week you saw a Silver R35 GT-R at the Lowes on 78? And did not get pictures to prove this?

Flappy padlle gear boxes are going to begin taking over every sparts car over the next 5 years. I guarantee it.

I think I seen that car also on 78 in Stone mountain. I was like is that a Skyline, as it drove by me as I was coming out of the parking lot.
