come on now, a true dsmer doesnt actually have a car that runs, they have cars with lots of potential if they could get them to run longer than like 5 minutes at idle. :lmfao: :lmfao:

i kidd i kidd, but for real how many arent running or running properly. yes evan that includes your car right now

Woah...I never kept track of 2Gs too much but I never knew they made convertible AWD?? I thought they only made fwd...for some dumb reason..lol

The previous owner converted it and Koi bought it already converted to AWD. They didnt make any AWD spyders from the factory, but they are easy(ier) to convert than non spyders. There is already a place for the driveshaft and everything, just takes lots of time and custom welding.

Oh I see....very interesting. Wonder if its worth it, with the weight and everything...

Yea, I work at a body shop and could have done the work myself or had some help if needed. But i'm a lazy basterd sometimes. For the most part it is just a straight up swap. With only two things needing to be welded into place.

As far as the weight, I haven't weighed mine. But most of the swaps are weighing in around the 3300LB mark with driver(Most of the drivers are skinny ****s!:2up:) and yes the swap is worth it. Nothing like doing a awd launch with the top down and I'm only losing like .1-.5 in the quarter mile with the extra weight. So not a bad trade off for someone who likes to drive more then race.

Do you ever come to GADSM meets? Ever in conyers? If you want I'll give you a ride in it if you like.

The dude that converted it started at 6pm and had it done by 1am. That was with a couple of beer breaks thrown in. So as long as you have the parts car. It shouldn't take to long.

Hell, If you remember when I was looking for another DSM. Being a cheap spyder was at the top of my list. I was going to do the swap myself. But when the car came up for sale for 6K. I was like that is one hell of a deal considering most of the people who have done the swap are trying to sell there cars for like 10K+.

The water and the stupid choice to get a CAI is the cause of mine before that it ran for all 16 years of its life so far besides when the tranny went. A dsm is only as unreliable as how cheap the owner is on maintaining it.

Mine did the same about 2 weeks ago!

aguynamedpat

Do an alternator relocation kit. They die so much on DSM's because of the heat with the turbo/mani/exhaust being right there at it. Buy the alternator relocation kit and it will move the alternator away from all the heat and it will last longer. You can also get a saturn alternator that puts out more amps.

09-28-2009, 12:15 PM
Yeah Pat I have seen ur threads about it, on here and Gadsm as well.i think that may have been you. How is yours doing? I also replaced my heatsheild to keep that from happening. Oh yeah It didnt take but a few months for it to fry!

To add to the dsm love. This was my baby. Vonrok owns it now, I sold it off to buy a house and I'm now wanting it back. But vonrok is having to much fun with it now. So... One of these days my ol'love should come back to me.
